The PFA National Meet 2016 - 29th July to 1st August 2016

This is a thread for the first National PFA meet at Valla Beach Resort (right next to Nambucca Heads, NSW) We'll be tying it in with the VW Spectacular, I've been in contact with the event organisers and she's happy to have us come and participate. There are events on the week leading up to the event but I normally just go for the weekend

I'll update this first post with information as I get it

The schedule is as follows:

Friday - Racing at Raleigh Raceway (a small track mainly used for go-karts, but it looks good fun - info on the track is here http://www.raleighraceway.com.au they are happy to have us participate in racing and I'll have entry details soon)

Saturday Morning - Street Parade in Nambucca Heads (morning)/Swap Meet back at Valla Beach (Afternoon) - Drive in convoy to the centre of Nambucca heads and fill up the street, last time they did it they had 530+ VWs (and hopefully we get quite a few Porsches to add to this)

Saturday Afternoon - Swap meet (this carries over to Sunday too sometimes) if anyone is interested in a booth or space to sell items please let me know and I'll see what I can arrange for you, there is obviously a bit of a crossover for VW/Porsche stuff

Sunday - Show n Shine at Valla Beach Resort, We'll hopefully have our own area for Porsches with PFA banners etc

Monday - Farewell breakfast, and I think they sometimes have some events but I normally go home this day

I will be planning it as a 4 day event but the actual VW specatular runs for an entire week so you're free to attend what you'd like

I'm going to go down Thursday and back Monday (via the Walcha-Wauchope road, and the New England Highway because I hate the Pacific Highway) if anyone is keen in travelling together. We could even meet up with the southern contingent coming up at Guyra or Uralla and happy to turn it into an SMT but will organise closer to the date.

Including letting me know if you need camping space!

You'll be hard pressed to find somewhere to stay in/around Nambucca Heads so you might need to commute to Coffs Harbour if you're looking at sorting your own accommodation (the 'Valla Beach Resort' park the event is at is already booked out)

I started a new thread so It's all clear and not full of responses, I'll be adding the accommodation information to this shortly when it stops merging my replies!

I still have all your info from the old thread and I'll be adding the payment details and form to complete shortly (the old planning thread is here)

An update on the accommodation front

Here's a map to give you an idea on where it is (and how far to the show location, details in the first post about how the event is run) - Map between show location and accommodation

The accommodation options are listed on the site - If you can let me know what accommodation you'd like (either by PM or here in this thread) and I'll organise you to complete the booking form. They also require a $100 deposit to secure the accommodation, and $10 non-refundable booking fee which I will put details for in the next post.

Please do not book directly with the park as we're trying to keep everything through the show organisers and use our leverage as a group to get into a convenient location (it's the same price either way)

As we speak i'm going through all the list of required accommodation and I'll post up the listing here. If I've missed anyone please let me know.

I'll also include a link to download the form to complete, and a method of paying the deposit for accommodation.

Was clearing through e-mails and saw the following thread in an e-newsletter: http://porscheforum.com.au/topic/4841-national-pfa-meet-planning-thread/?page=1. ... and I ended up on this page. 

Am interested in attending, but shan't be able to confirm until May/ June 2016.  Do I need to sign-up anywhere? 

I was active in the WA-chapter when I used to live in Perth, but haven't attended any Porsche events in NSW.  I own a 911, a Cayenne, and a 928 Strosek, and thought about taking my 911 to this event in Nambucca Heads.

You don't need to sign up anywhere for the event, just come along - entry fees will be announced next year when all the artwork/details are finalised. If you want to race you will need to sign up, but those details will be released at the same time

I'm working on the accommodation details today, and will be PM'ing anyone who was looking for somewhere to stay.

Anyone interested in racing at Raleigh Raceway can they please let me know via PM.

You'll need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club with a CAMS license.

yep I've been (i just did the maths, about 20 times now lol) I'm not sure if I'm racing yet - I'm thinking about it

they race beetles, golfs, kombis there and some of them have more power than a 911 (you'll be up against Glen Torrens in a hill climb beetle, and Stan Pobjoy in one of his race cars probably)

it's a very small track and used for karts normally, not very forgiving but it's hard to get up to any speed anyway

Track time depends on how many entrants they get, you usually will get a few runs. They are waiting on their CAMS license for the event with the exact details. Racing will be over Thursday/Friday. Will post more details as I get them

Russ, we've just received an email from Donna Pell with another entry form, asking for another deposit and entry form to be completed.  Anyone else get it?

Do we have to do another entry form?  Can you update us please???

Apparently yes, there is a new entry form - she's been sending them out this week (You'll notice the change of the event name, and the new designs) as well as an itinerary for the entire week before if anyone is keen in that too and racing info

she would like everyone to complete them as they have the correct dates/info/and other activities up too. She has confirmed that she has our accommodation deposits, and that the rooms are booked

I've got all your emails recently, sorry I just haven't had a chance to respond to anything yet.

What parts of the form, do we fill out again? Do we have to do the accommodation yet again, if so there is no entry for the place you said we are staying at?

What about our deposits already paid and rooms selected, do they have a record of that? There is nothing on there to show the rooms we chose previously.

What about extra car and people? I have Graeme staying with us as I thought I had booked a two bedroom unit? How do I add his car as well?

Sorry Russ no reflection on you but this is getting to be a cluster from them, we need some clear instructions on exactly what needs to be filled out in detail on that form as it is hardly self explanatory. Would also like some sort of record of monies already paid and that the rooms we previously requested have been reserved for us.

Other than that if it's all too hard for them to give us clear instructions and confirmation of our current bookings and money sent then I'm out and would like a refund as I've had to send in documents and extra money multiple times now.

Edit: Russ thank you for calling me, after our phone conversation I just want to confirm that I am definitely out now and will not be attending. Appreciate all you have tried to do for us in organising this.

I'll be updating this thread when I get home from work. I've approached the organisers regarding refunds, as well as if filling in the form is really required.

 

i have confirmed seperately that our accomodation at the white albatross is booked.
