550Spyder Posted 30October, 2015 Report Share Posted 30October, 2015 TeamI appreciate that everyone will have a lot of advise based on buying from general car dealers, but I am after some advice from people who have actually purchased a brand new Porsche from an official Porsche dealer. Questions(1) Are the 3 Porsche dealers in Melbourne owned by different owners, by the same owner or by Porsche Cars Australia. (2) Is the protocol pay the list price or will they "deal" as a normal car dealer would. (3) If not on price, what will they typically be able to move on (throw in a service, mats, detailing?) Given on 911 and Cayman models you appear to buy / compete for limited production spots on the production line they don't exactly seem pressured to be discounting from full rrp. Many thanks. Caledonian Posted 30October, 2015 Report Share Posted 30October, 2015 Q1 - Sorry do not know that one but i'm sure it would not be too hard to find out.Q2 - I doubt the majority of Porsche customers did not get themselves into the position to be Porsche customers by paying list Q3 - From my sales experience we were taught not to give discount off the price but to add in product as it appears to have a high value but was low cost to us, "Unfortunately Mr Spider sir ,we would not be able to move on the $250,000 price, but i can include 1 free oil change, floor mats, ski racks (that we have had in stock for the last 10yrs) etc."Joking aside I think the same "supply and demand" rule would apply as to most cars, … although you never seem to hear of Porsche 2015 runout sales. edgy Posted 31October, 2015 Report Share Posted 31October, 2015 1) has been answered by Chris ^^2) absolutely deal! ? I think you will find yourself going to and from the dealer a couple of times... Build up a relationship with your SA during this time and put the heavy on him.3) They seem to throw in some accesories and options before they will want to discount prices.. But I'm sure you can find a balance! Afterall you are always free to shop around at the 3 dealers to get the best price and service.
DJM Posted 31October, 2015 Report Share Posted 31October, 2015 PCB rep told me he's here to help and not arrogant about pricing (on other words lets talk) but a couple of % seems about all they will move.

Bardman Posted 1November, 2015 Report Share Posted 1November, 2015 Yes you can get a discount, and yes they can throw in paid options for free. You should go for both. The other thing to take into account is that you will get a better discount for floor stock than something you need to order to spec - so do your homework on which dealer is holding inventory of the car you want.Lastly, when the car is delivered, you will get the whole spiel about giving them a good score on the survey (it affects their bonus). Use this as an opportunity to get some aftermarket goodies (clothing etc).Good luck! :)
OZ930 Posted 1November, 2015 Report Share Posted 1November, 2015 Aren't Porsche different from every other make and go by the motto "Less is More" ?"Yes sir, I will throw in remove the plush leather electric seats and instal fixed back racing buckets, remove all carpets, sound deadening, radio, air conditioning, sunroof and that's a $100,000 option sir……It's the best I can do for you…….oh and it must be white.
