Experience with Engineers and Mod plates VIC

I wondered if anyone in VIC has any contacts or experience with Mod plates..

I want to take a professionally built car road/rally car , not hot rod or PCAR and get a transfer from Historic to a Modified plate but it will need an engineers cert for things like.

1. Dry Sump Kit

2. Full Cage/ including Side Instrusion

3. Rear Disc Brakes

4. Hydraulic handbrake

5. Aluminium foam fuel cell

6. Relocated battery

7. Remote cansitered - suspension - pretty normal ride height

8. Upgrade engine 1.3 - 2.0l

+ some

Basically am interstate and want to do this on a car , not really trying to cover anything up and in my own opinion nothing too radical in the build but it seems like very uncharted territory and I dont want to get caught out ….  The car is safe , not a mental build like V8 in a beetle or anything like that ..

Thanks in advance for any contacts …. I have read VIC Roads website but cant get any straight answers

I just need someone whos gonna work it through and can talk to me …. seems to be a rare commodity ;)  and no  I dont need another wife im sure its easier to register the car and less expensive :)

Not sure about Victoria, but of that list, in SA only items 2, 4, 5 & 8 would need and engineering cert.  What sort of car?  What about if you contact one of the more reputable modified car clubs. They should have someone within that could help answer your questions. G/luck

The rules in Vic, are quite new and so the interpretation of the 'rules' is quite strict - so far.

So yes it is probably easier just to formally register the car & after a year or two, when things settle down, move it across to Historic or Modified.

Another plan would be to 'engage' an Engineer (with VR ticket) & explain your end result and get gradual approval as work progresses. A friends son did this when he built a Hot Rod.

This guys name seems to pop up a lot:  Hubert Gall (VASS No.1005). E H Gall & Associates. 1042 Toorak Road. Camberwell Vic Ph: (03) 9775 0133.

I heard he is a grumpy german engineer - but we are P car people, so it may be OK???

I can recommend this lot http://www.enkelman.com.au for sound advice, they helped me when I brought our car in from the UK. Explained the ridiculous requirements very clearly and advised me to do something I wouldn't ever have thought of that consequently saved me thousands. They're a bit stern and brusque, but helpful all the same.

I'm also assuming it's a Mk2 of some description?.B)
