KBGr4 Posted 2November, 2015 Report Share Posted 2November, 2015 I just wanted to remind all of our Victorian members how fortunate and lucky you are to have such interesting events, venues and support from not only the organisers but the local communities to allow the events to run.Actually I am envious as shortly following Targa High Country (6-8 November) you then get the chance to compete or spectate at the inaugural Hotham Auto Corsa Alpine Tarmac Rally on the 14 - 15th November . I haven't seen a single NSW tarmac road event for some time ( maybe the East Coast Classic was the last) and that probably relates to simply TOO much red tape and the dreaded "not in my back yard" attitude of the tree changers living in suitable country areas (4 - 5 hrs from Sydney). From my experience even 20 years ago in NSW it was getting "challenging" to get approvals for road closures so that nightmare would only have become worse. So please get out there and support these events and have fun and think how fortunate you are.Lucky buggers !! Redracn Posted 2November, 2015 Report Share Posted 2November, 2015 Unfortunatly the Auto Corsa event has been canceled for this year. The course looked fantastic."The much-anticipated Hotham Auto Corsa Alpine Tarmac Rally will be held in 2016 on a date to be announced."But not to worry the Great Tarmac Rally (moved due to the grand final holiday in VIC) is on in a couple of weeks 14,15th November. Then there is the Snowey River Sprint on 5 and 6th December. http://www.australiantarmacrally.comBoy do we have it good down here the only problem is fitting it all in.??? KBGr4 Posted 7November, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 7November, 2015 Ok so we have survived the rain and fog of day one that made for interesting conditions. Day two I spent trying to come to grips with our narrower wheel and tyre selection as while I love the look and style of the genuine period correct 9 x 15 and 11 x 15 Gotti wheels and big tyres , discretion ( and a healthy respect for wet conditions ) have us on more standard wheels and R spec tyres.Mechanical gremlins struck on the drive up the mountain last night and without the assistance of our mechanic, Simon Greenwood ( Autowerks Charmhaven ) It was going to be game over. Thankfully Simon tracked our problem to some debris in the idle jets. So our 4 cylinder should be back up to 6 for the rest of the event. If anyone is out having a look at the event today please give us at car 149 and our friends Brett Dillon and Geoff Corah in the 1969 911 T car 148 a wave.
