MFX Posted 29July, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 29July, 2017 Great. Now instead of sitting on my arse watching car racing, I have a sudden urge to clean the shed! That agitator was nearly genius mate! ?Emphasis on 'nearly'...

firstone Posted 29July, 2017 Report Share Posted 29July, 2017 A mate made one as well but used water and bi carb. Used it to clean inside a carburetor. Says it worked a treat. MFX

firstone Posted 30July, 2017 Report Share Posted 30July, 2017 That was his approach. It was an old Rochester I think off an American import 70s corvette. He cleaned it and put a kit through it and it still had issue's. He built his unit and run it and it performs beautifully.I'll get some details from him. MFX
MFX Posted 4August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 4August, 2017 This week I spent most of my time trying to remove the brakes. What a headache. The dust cover for the front wheel bearings is a real pig, but I found a great way to get them off. Coastr Posted 5August, 2017 Report Share Posted 5August, 2017 Did you think about putting a medium inside the bucket, like crushed almost shells or whatever the pros use? That might work better than a cleaning solution. You might also need a bigger agitation - orbitals only do small circles.

It was more I saw heaps of guys on YouTube trying this method but not actually showing the results. The gravel type cleaner could be a much better option. Coastr Posted 5August, 2017 Report Share Posted 5August, 2017 I hear about 'tumblers' and while this conjures images of clothes dryers I actually think it is a standing tub that vibrates, and you put the items in with different types of media, depending on what you need done. This thread on pelican goes into some deatil and has plenty of shiny parts porn.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/880268-cleaning-tumbling-plating-polishing-powder-coating-service.htmlI think it's the type of retirement business I would like to have. Just cleaning up parts and getting them nice and new again and making people very happy. Who doesn't love taking a gungy old mess and turning it into a 'like new' one. Rob Posted 9August, 2017 Report Share Posted 9August, 2017 Looks like I know where I am going this morning. Today and tomorrow I will be hopefully attacking the brakes some more for tomorrow's episode.Jeff, just a word from my experience - if you buy it, you'll of course have to assemble it - make sure ALL of the joining surfaces and screw holes are COMPLETELY sealed with silicone or sealant of your choice. The dust generated is all-pervasive and 1) not something you'll want to breathe, or 2) not something you want your engine in ingest. Great piece of kit though, but it'll test out your compressor. Mine is a 12 cfm and it struggles after a couple of minutes... Raven
