baso Posted 10November, 2015 Report Share Posted 10November, 2015 So, for various reasons it looks like the tribe (and car) are on their way to relocate to our nation's capital.I was hoping fellow PFA'ers could provide some insights and tips of life in Canberra and where to go etc.So a few questions to prompt some suggestions- while i still plan to have my car services at Autohaus in Sydney, what is Gulsens like and are there any good independents? - aside from Summer Nats and the annual PFA gathering, what is the car culture like - is there a cars and coffee equivalent?- where are some good driving roads around - about an hour loop would be ideal?- are there any good places for general car care stuff?- any good bike (of the pedal variety) that can be recommended- Is the Porsche club in Canberra active and do they arrange any motorkanas (?)Am sure further questions will come to mind, bit hoping for some insights. Many thanks!
MB911 Posted 10November, 2015 Report Share Posted 10November, 2015 Hey Baso,You'll like Canberra it's a good place.I get an independant to service the 944 I've never been near Gulsons. Michel or TiT may know the best places for later model Porsches. There are plenty of good mechanics here. The car culture is good with plenty of car shows and events. Enough good drives around the place.Canberrra Pedal Power is huge.Porsche club Canberra, well speak to AJ and make up your own mind there. If you are a club man you should enjoy them. Happy to dispense knowledge and arrange a welcome partyCanberra is an excellent place for drivers and there's enough car culture to keep you entertained. This is also a cycling mecca. michel Posted 11November, 2015 Report Share Posted 11November, 2015 yes to all of your q's and there are capable mechanics who can service a boxster without having to go to either gulsons or trek all the way back to AH as above TITS your go to, for social enterprise
baso Posted 11November, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 11November, 2015 Drive straight to Club 77 Fishwik .......................Assume not exactly fun for the WHOLE family .... Meant to add store or track. Definitely road for me. Mountain biking has not been a success for me - will stick to following the 7 year old on a dirt track

baso Posted 12November, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 12November, 2015 I reckon you should have another stab at MTB while you're here don't have a good history - ended up off the bike on most previous attempts. Never say never again though ….. Will buy mtb when I get there, but a cheap and cheerful version to follow the little guy around. The roadie will not be doing the 'family run'
