Historics at Phillip island March 2016

Hi,

Long way away I know, but wondering if anybody knows how the parking down there works? I have been down there a few years back with PCV  ( no longer a member) and they had a reserved parking space along the straight with other car clubs, but trying to understand whether we ( the forum) may be able to get a space, or whether you have to be a member of a car club??

could be an interesting day with an early run through the hills around Poowong, and Leongatha area and then to the track for the Historics......

Interested in any feedback regarding how the parking arrangements work....

Nothing wrong with being early and organised Pete.  I also went this year, in a mates Mustang.  In my opinion the best racing of the year at the Island.  Over a thousand entries and all area's access.  A great day and some of the classes really do have a dip.  From memory the best sounding car was a 1940ish Bugatti that had won a couple of world titles back then.  Lots of car clubs and plenty to look at. ;)  Definitely keen to tag along.

Cheers Steve

Thread resurrection timeB)

Anyone going this coming weekend? Mate and I are deciding whether to do Saturday or Sunday, or a mix of both as we have tickets to a gig back in Melbourne on Sunday night. Should be a good weekend, usually is.

I am heading down Sunday. I have parking  sorted in the Porsche area through PCV.

this will be my 3rd trip down for the historics. Well worth the drive.

I'm racing my 69E in group Sb (#50).  A bunch of us normally pit near the exit road at Turn 4.

Most likely Mike.  Mine is silver with blue/yellow Luthansa decals.

Normally a mix of 2 litre group Sb cars and 2.7/3 litre group Sc cars.

I will look out for you Chris. Would be good to catch up.

I'm thinking about going on Saturday.  No plans beyond that.  Get there when I get here. I might even take a few wrong turns on the way ;)

Mike, what time is the Shannons parade and how did you get into that??

Shannons parade is all day next to the front straight. There will be a parade lap around the track early morning (8:30am?). Shannon's invite me each year even though I've never been insured with them.

Ill be there on Saturday with PCV.

Taking the Cayenne ( Black 955 TT ) .

I'd love to drive the 914 to the track,  but it would be a long day in the saddle for me and the car.

Might try to score a house locally for the weekend next year,  and trailer it to there.

Come say hi ( ill probably have a Martini cap on,  and a bored 11 year old annoying me ) .
