Wanted Posted 23November, 2015 Report Share Posted 23November, 2015 Hi Guys,I have been searching everywhere for an Air Cooled 911 with no luck unless a want to part with $60K.+By chance a relitive has a Slant Nose ( I Hate the Look of Them) that I can purchase for $30K. Car was Originally a LHD Import from the USA,but was converted professionally. 3.0 Litre motor 915 5 Speed, Coupe, C2 Wide body and total bare metal respray painted Yellow. My question is I would like to convert the front end back to a standard 911 and get rid of that horrible Slant Nose. Do the front Guards, Bonnett and Front bar bolt straight onto this model.Does any one have some parts for sale as I would like to do the sums before I purchase the car. This seems like a good buy for $30K, but I would like some opinions? ThanksMark

Coastr Posted 24November, 2015 Report Share Posted 24November, 2015 The guards will bolt up, but you'll need wide ones to match the wide body.i thought they ran a standard bar but we'd have to see pictures to know for sure.
neill Posted 25November, 2015 Report Share Posted 25November, 2015 Yeah everything on my slant nose was normal stuff aside from the gaurds. Purchase guards/lights and your done, with paint obviously.

Stew F Posted 26November, 2015 Report Share Posted 26November, 2015 The word on the street is that the 3.0 is a very good engine. As I understand it it was the changeover from magnesium to aluminium cases. I beleive pulled head studs are nowhere near as common as they are in the earlier engines. Mine goes really sweet. Hasn't missed a beat since I've owned it (only 2 years). On a side note, a couple of my good mates used to work at Jackson. One now at moomba, and the other has given it away. They don't pull out , they just snap! A metallurgical experiment gone wrong. But once fixed (plus the chain tensioner issue) , yes a very strong reliable engine.
