Looks like the microsite is still being put up at the moment
http://www.porsche.com/microsite/911-turbo/australia.aspx

Porsche Australia's website is currently quoting $394,355 and $476,832 for the Turbo and Turbo S Coupe's (not sure if that's the old models or the 2017 models)

HA - love the bit about having to call this a 'proper' turbo. Technically a great car do doubt, but these things are getting so big and so damn fast they are moving into Lambo territory. I know my 997tt at 3.5secs is already crazy fast to practically use all the power,  so sub 3 secs is a completely different level. You wonder where manufacturers have got to go say in 2020 - do you really want to be driving a 2 sec car?

You could by a house there with the price difference and still be in front!

And Porsche US had to import them from Germany just the same as Porsche Aus does....

Sure, but they also imported a LHD from Germany unlike Australia. The amortised cost to engineer and produce a RHD car is far greater than a LHD.

Not to mention the sales volume difference between USA and Aust which would result in USA getting a better price than Porsche Aust plus the added costs of running a business in Australia with our wages, dealership set-up, running costs, etc. I'm not defending Porsche Aust's pricing because I do believe their mark up is greater than other OEMs here however, there is more to it than Porsche US importing from Germany the same as Porsche Aus does.

I used to laugh when people said "this is too fast" and say "there's no such thing!" but I am starting to think that. I saw the other day that the RS3 Audi, a little "hot hatch" will do sub 4sec, and as you say, the 991TT is just bonkers.

There will always be a place for these cars, but I suspect we'll also start to see a range of cars that move away from the raw numbers and focus on the "enjoyment" of driving... More feel, bit more rawness, less speed, but huge smiles... Maybe that's what the 911R is about...

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

I share your view. While the engineering behind the crazy power and speed of current gen cars is extremely impressive, there comes a point when that cannot be used on the road. I think that's one reason why mild but fun cars like the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ and Mazda MX-5 have become so popular. They are useable on the road. The Cayman GT4 is another example. While it is still a very fast car it is comparatively accessible and you can enjoy the limits without hitting silly speeds. You're not getting old... :P

There is no such thing as to much power. It is easy to use every last bit of a 997TTS. I never get tired of slowing down just to accelerate back up to (Leagal) speed. Acceleration is not illegal yet as far as I know. The shove in the back always brings a smile and passengers of all ages just giggle or scream in delight like it was their first rollercoaster ride. You can come around a corner give it a hit and watch all the pedestrians step back onto the footpath, worth it for that alone. It is a car you can enjoy at leagal speeds.
