I have the option to extend the factory warranty whilst it is still under warranty. We plan to keep it a few years longer, has anyone experience with this? I really don't think its going to be worth a lot of money in years to come, I fear should something go bad with it it'll cost more to repair than the damn car is worth. But at the same time its really not going to do too much in the way of mileage either.This is what they charge for itA1, A3, A4 (excl. So money is relevant.To me its just like white goods really and I do not have a relationship with it like my other cars, they have personality this car doesn't. okay I'll stop because I am starting to sound weird. Normal I would say. My problem is that many modern cars are too "model perfect" ; I prefer things with character that speaks of experiences.I get my adrenaline kicks from other things Ditch the whitegood and buy a reliable modern classic with a personality. I wonder if there is a "third party" warranty you can get with the same coverage but cheaper? I presume you'd have to spend two weeks reading fine print to compare them though... Must be lots of non-dealer specialists in Sydney that would repair at reasonable rates?If it's a computer or a screen or some other expensive bit that fails then the internet makes the world your shopping oyster.If you have done only low km's and with full dealer service I reckon Audi will take care of you for a year after your warranty expires if you kick up a stink anyway...Fortune favors the brave. I opted not to.The car has been a great performer and the figures just didn't add up. I felt the cost to extend was over the top. I think they're still a gimmick not dissimilar to extended warranties they try to flog off with appliances.Ultimately, it's a gamble. You take it and you're gambling something will happen, Audi is gambling it won't. Even with it, if something goes wrong, you're at the whim of Audi as to whether the defect is actually covered. Its our beach, airport, leave anywhere car and used pretty much every day.Just service it once a years $150 or so, in all the time we have had it only needed a throttle cable, cam belt/water pump service & 2 batteries.What a magic car that just does what it should all the time.Swap you for that needy little German girl, problem solved.Hope this helps. If you're trying to impress the neighbours or keep up with the schoolyard Jones's , that's a different matter. That sort of nonsense goes against logical and rational thought processes. He told the dealer that it was using excessive oil on several occasions (not in writing though...) but was brushed off each time. He didn't even make it to the "fill it up and bring it in after 1000k " test ; the critical low oil light came up.The car has never smoked or smelt.I will continue to urge my friends and rellies to stay well away from vag.
