SteamWolf Posted 18December, 2015 Report Share Posted 18December, 2015 So my car came with a folder of reciepts going back to the early 90's and a photo copy of the owner's handbook. Presumably the handbook and service book were souvineered by a previous owner. What's the best way to find out if they still have it? The car was originally sold in QLD, then moved to Vic in the 90's, then up to NSW when I bought it. The guy I got it from bought it from those auto broker people in Melbourne. Prior to that - no idea. Would the brokers have nicked the books for some reason? I'd like the car to be as complete as possible and I'm worried this is a big hole in its desirability. Dreamr Posted 18December, 2015 Report Share Posted 18December, 2015 I wouldn't worry too much the desireability part ..... these things are 30 years old now and while I agree it would be wonderful to have everything intact, it's understandable they are no longer around ....I think it would more affect the car if it was 10 -15 years old ....I bought my 911 with only 1 receipt .... an air conditioning regas done 4 weeks before I bought it. It didn't phase me in the slightest or affect my decision to buy it. It definitely affected my decision to buy our '08 Cayenne though as if it had no history, I would have looked elsewhere. michel Posted 18December, 2015 Report Share Posted 18December, 2015 Jim I located 2 of the original 3 American owners of my 71 . Post on forums ask state clubs, hit the white pages. Ring workshops.yes old cars. But it seems as irrational as it is, having orig books is another tick in the sell buy equation With my Sporto , with help of peter who owned the car some years back I got the original books and a bit more paperwork. Had to pay for them as the guy who turned out to be a bigger dik than I'm known to be ... If I never got em, I wouldn't have lost sleep though. tazzieman Posted 23December, 2015 Report Share Posted 23December, 2015 My Japanese 911 arrived with nothing. All records are kept by dealers ; no-one has the service book in the glovebox.Good luck tracing anything in Japan. I was told by a secret source that $400 gets you to first base with the local constabulary. As for my 928 , delivered new to Ms Barbara Dickenson in New Zealand in 1982...
