Tire upgrade for SC.

Hi Guys  , looking to upgrade the rubber on my SC . Its currently got a set of Hancooks on there that are pretty old ( plenty of grip left )and would like something more sporty / R series .

looking to increase grip and would also hope it adds more race appeal too .

As far as driving goes with these tires its currently 1-2 a week for an hour or so ( weekender ). Not  daily and the longest journey so far has only been 2 hours round trip .

Any recommendations on what i should consider , where to buy and a ball park price would be extremely helpful

I`m running original Fuch wheels but rally considering buying a set of Maxilite Fuch replicas which are the same size as factory anyway

Located in Melbournes North  , "Home of the burnout " so heaps of tire places around just need to know what to ask for and how much to pay

If your looking at an 'R' spec semi slick Dunlop or Advan's (yokohama), expect to pay around $1200 for a set. You wont find a road tyre that comes close to a semi, they are fantastic, just the wear rate is obviously higher.

I haven't used them extensively in the wet though, others may chime in if they have had any issues in relation to this but I believe they are still suitable (given they run them at targa etc.).

Cheers, Hugh.

If you want good performance road tyres (i.e. not R spec) you can't go past the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE series.  I had RE002's on my SC when I bought it.  They were great.  I got new tyres in October last year.  RE002 has been superseded by the RE003.  I got them.  They are really good.  The grip is amazing, especially in the wet.  I was thinking of getting Toyo Proxis T1R's,  but when I went for a ride in a "normal" car fitted with them I found them quite noisy.

I have Michelin Pilot sport (235/40 18) on my RS Megane.  Only 2000 km on them, but great grip, and a nice look.

And it's Fuchs man.  Get it right.  Gee.

You haven't mentioned if they are 15's or 16's ..... not a very big range if they are 15 inches ....

I run Falkens on my 15's are they are probably the only "sports" road tyre for that size ..... although very happy with them.

Same sizes for mine.  Tho I'm thinking of getting some 9" rims, so the 225's will be too skinny.  What else?

Just kidding.  That's my surname.  I've been copping incorrect spelling and pronunciation all my life.

The best tyre closest to an r compound for the st is the direzza z2, I used to run the z1 when I started driving on the track it was the previous version. They available at Stuckey tyres in Brunswick, trust me the z2 is the best hands down, that will hold up to several track days should you go down that path.

DZ2's are my road tyre.  Mostly used for weekend fun around the local hills.  I have Advan A048 medium compound R specs for the occasional track use. They are a bit iffy in full wet conditions so if the need arises I would use the DZ2's as my "wet" track tyre.

My local shop can get me Dunlop Direzza DZ102  at $160 per rear and $140 per front . Anyone have any experience with these . About to call Stuckys in Brunswick now

Update , STUCKY it is . Great prices on the DZ2`s . Now to get my rims sorted .

There's a guy in Bulleen who advertises Fuch replicas.  He might have nuts as well.
