ANF Posted 13January, 2016 Report Share Posted 13January, 2016 As most know I am keen to get a 928 and it is time to start getting serious about it!I have a line on a local one but that has thrown up some issues around headroom and may prove too difficult to ultimately fit into! http://porscheforum.com.au/topic/8003-a-928-question-on-seats/So I am seeing what may be out there to help me decide what to do on the local car.....Looking for an S or non S up to 86 model, up to $15k. Needs to be an auto and if an S from '80 to '84 needs to be sans sunroof! Non sunroof model preferred in earlier and later if possible, headroom is at a premium! Not after a concourse car but one that is driveable as is, that may need minor fixing up.Any help, leads, info appreciated.ThanksAdam

ANF Posted 14January, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 14January, 2016 Thanks guys, things are finally aligning that enable me to get serious about it Could any 928 owners please help me out on seat height? From what I have noticed the consoles in all 928s seems to be the same. I ask that a member or 2 (or more) measure the height from top of front of seat to line under the console (see pic) so that I may judge any head room increase from swapping to that seat. No point with an '80 to '84 S with elec seats, but good from non elec seats, '84 and '85 model and S4s/ GTS - from the seats lowest setting.Looking at the S4/ GTS pic attached there appears to be a bit of extra room as the '82 S is almost level with the bottom of console??'82 S model Thanking you
turboT Posted 15January, 2016 Report Share Posted 15January, 2016 How tall are you exactly??as tassie (probably the best guy to ask about dimensions) the 928 is a 'gentleman's GT'that's usually code for 'fat fu@kers' will fit. Germans are also pretty tall

Germans are also pretty tall I am 6'1', but not really relevant, everyone I have spoken to tells of limited head room in 928s. It is worse in '80 to '84 models with a sunroof. Fat people would probably struggle to get in and out??I have spoken to Tazzie and been in his car and he has been a great help. It is not the first time that head room has been an issue in a German car. I will figure out a way to get into my dream 928, it just may involve new seats...... tazzieman Posted 16January, 2016 Report Share Posted 16January, 2016 as tassie (probably the best guy to ask about dimensions) the 928 is a 'gentleman's GT'that's usually code for 'fat fu@kers' will fit. Germans are also pretty tall From what I've seen on 911 forums , those shagged out seats indicate that many portly 911 drivers would be far better off parking their botties in a gentleman (thugs) GT.My firm buttocked belief is that 911 seats were designed around contemporary racer's dimensions

Stew F Posted 16January, 2016 Report Share Posted 16January, 2016 Adam, have you seen this? Well within the budget you've set, plus some to do those little fix up jobs.http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Porsche-928-1986/SSE-AD-3706606/?Cr=
