They are certainly going up. Regretting selling my 997.1 C2S, definitely would have got 10-15k more for it now (a year later). Good buy for the bloke who bought it. Still hopeful my 997TC will hold fast for the next year or so. I just love the 997 shape, the way they drive, the interior, everything about them. I (am going to be get roasted for this but here goes) reckon they leave the air-cooled stuff for dead - I can not believe the 993 pricing when the 997 is subjectively a better drive in nearly every respect. The idea of buying a 993 turbo for the same price as a 991 turbo is bloody ridiculous IMO...

You won't believe what 1973 last century 911s sell for ;) Only 210 hp as well.

It's all about nostalgia, and potentially future values....

Agree with MFX , great cars and now the WC cars are really showing form the 997 is a great bit of kit alround , dirven quite a few and that comes from 993 owner.

I just reckon they is a going down yet baby… the market is still stalled somewhat since before xmas , AC's dragged the prices up ..they will come back down to reality and with their depreciation thats normal in Pcars..

If your looking at highly collectables thats probably a diffrent story.. but  then again look at GT3 market almost stalled 997.1 and 997.2

Crystal ball at the ready to see what comes

Bottom line , im gonna have  997 in my garage someday

why?  BecauSe I coukd buy a new 99x for the same price as a usEd 997?

Look at the prices and volume of these cars outside Oz, in 2018 there will be nothing stopping you from buying OS and bringing it in. As a result the supply vs demand of local pricing will be adjusted and the associated premiums will have to be reduced in order to be somewhat competitive.

I'm in South Africa later in the year and I'm already looking at prices of later model Porsches there, you can pick up a 997 GT3 for the price that Weltmeister 997 sold for. If your not in a rush it could be worth the wait is all I'm saying.

But you won't be able to import a 997 GT3 from South Africa in 2018 - unless I have missed that part of the proposed changes ?

As someone about to leap into 997, I think the value are pretty sound and to be honest I would hope they just remain stable rather than blow out into the stratosphere.... but we are already seeing HUGE values on anything RS... :(  so who knows?

I don't think that the new 2018 import rules will affect 997 values too much as those will always be UK cars and for some reason there is plenty of UK import 997's even now.

The new import rules will definitely have to have some direct affect on the current 911 at the time (991.2?) as you are truly comparing apples & not an Aussie car to 10 y.o. UK car.

Yes only the UK and Japan so far can be 12 months old with 500 klms basically a new car.excludeing the 25 year and Classic Kit

PERSONAL NEW CAR IMPORT CHANGES

  • You can import one vehicle every 24 months;
  • From right-hand-drive countries with “comparable vehicle standards to Australia”;
  • This presently means Japan and the UK (what? No NZ?) and motorcycles also from the USA and European Union countries; and
  • Vehicle must have less than 500km on the odometer and be less than 12 months old.

So do we put the price up for you or down?

:D  down to about $50k, please. I think they'll level out about there.

I'm seeing 987 boxsters move at low 30's.. I think that might be a better entry point for me, but it's not 'the dream'

The new legislation proposed (not yet passed) for 2018 applies only to new cars with <500kms on the clock. The UK and Japan are the only 2 countries being considered at this point.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a 911 with over 30 or 40,000kms. Also, pre-2006 997's were risky buys due to IMS and Bore Score failures, so really all of the cars above are less than desirable IMO. Even the two 2007 cars with 41,000 and 40,386kms, as one is tiptronic and the other has a grey interior...

If you went and looked at some of these cars, I think you would find they would be very scruffy and required many $$$ on maintenance and refurb.

Low KM examples that have been pampered and maintained to schedule are holding quite well. Some low km Gen2 cars are closing in on 991 base model pricing.

I am hanging onto my 40,000 K 06 Carrera S simply because I Love it ,,,,,,but the big issue for me is if I sell the car  in the future say for  $150 if the market goes there ,,,,I would then need another 911 in my life ,can live with out one NO....so what would I buy that equals this car for that money in the future ,,,I don,t think I would get anything better for that money ,,,These cars will becoming more desirable like all 911,s ,,and the 3.8 NA engine is a thing of the past and will attract buy,rs ,,,,but will I push myself out of the market if I do sell ,,,,will I be able to afford say a 991 Carrera S in two years time ,,,not likely  ...........?

I suppose 997 owners can only hope that prices do what 993 prices did. Then you will certainly be able to sell your can in the future for a newer model. But it's so hard to tell whether the 997 will be coveted in the same way 10 years from now. Maybe in the future the desire to own a naturally aspirated 911 will become the dream much like owning an air-cooled car today?

I think 997.2 S will be the pick for holding value.

There were huge changes made at that point

  • No IMS
  • New fuel injection
  • Huge changes to the mechanical running gear
  • New suspension
  • Updated interior
  • Intro of PDK (arguable but popular)

Bla bla bla

From my research many people (dealers, motoring writers etc) claim this was the model where Porsche really got their shit together again after the 993, the styling was right, the interior quality had improved, the IMS (haunting) was history and the new mechanicals were simply brilliant.

Hence why the update models are basically twice the price $70-ish for a 997.1 S to $140-ish for a 997.2 S

The 997.2 S is the keeper

all this for $0.10 cents (possibly all its worth)

this.

4s 997 sold for approx 149k took 3 weeks

997 carrera in nsw sold for approx 139k took 2 weeks at p dealer

Although the one at Doncaster Porsche seems to have been there for half a year now...

997 turbos prices appear to have stabilized if not increased

And cayman and boxster prices continue to drop

Back trying to sell the 997.2 tt. Yes deffinately prices seem to have increased but the four for sale have yet to sell. They range from $225k - $250k. They are all exactly the same car (one is white) with differing kms. Dealers seem very interested in wanting to sell mine because I think they see a good margin and the opportunity to sell finance. With 991 tt's still around $350k pricing for the 997's in theory is right at around these figures especially as the gen 1 cars are asking around $180k.

About a year ago I was offered $185k by a Porsche dealer, now others are prepared to consign for $250k with a 2.5% margin.

The market maybe suggests all four owners are a bit optimistic as cars have all sat for a month or so. For $200k they all would have sold.

interesting times, but good buying considering as these are prices not much more than an optioned up 991 carerra 2...
