Carrera28 Posted 18February, 2016 Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 TBH I am not keen on the massive rear wing on the black one, but the front bumper is not bad.http://www.engineswapdepot.com/?p=

Thanks for the link but the red car has new 997 fenders/head lights. The bumper im looking at doesnt need new fenders or headlights.

ByronBayChris Posted 18February, 2016 Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 i like stock - but I think its your car.....so do as you please. Any money spent on it will usually have a negative return.
MFX Posted 18February, 2016 Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 Haha, I actually like the wing I have always thought the Cayman needs some sort of wing on the back to balance it out. Personally, the first thing to do to make a Cayman look better is lowering with nice full rims, like the car in the first pic. That would be my first move (missing my CS.... ). LeeM Posted 18February, 2016 Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 I too think a Cayman needs a wing, yet some guys go over the top with the GT3 wings being fitted.. Personal choice mate. If ya want to modify a Cayman and it makes you happy, theres no problem, just do it. Yes, like all Porsche's that are modified in some way may have an effect on value, yet if I owned a Cayman, a wing would be first on my list of mods
TE911 Posted 18February, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 Okay so ive found a company that makes this conversion bumper.I'm not sure what you're waiting for?Im not really waiting for anything, just wanted to hear everyone's five cents worth while i was looking for the bumper. i like stock - but I think its your car.....so do as you please. Any money spent on it will usually have a negative return.HAHA and i know i wont be getting any return once i mod my Cayman. I do like it stock as well but just wanted it to be different to the rest. Haha, I actually like the wing I have always thought the Cayman needs some sort of wing on the back to balance it out. Personally, the first thing to do to make a Cayman look better is lowering with nice full rims, like the car in the first pic. That would be my first move (missing my CS.... ).HA Jeff... are you trying to stir something about wings now...But you are right it would look good with something on the rear. Im thinking about just fitting the base portion that the huge wings come with. Reminds me of a ducktailIm way ahead of you there... already been speaking with east coast suspension about getting some lowering springs for my PASM suspension. As for rims i love the ones on the car now.It is a shame you dont have the Cayman anymore But now your building a kick ass RSR I too think a Cayman needs a wing, yet some guys go over the top with the GT3 wings being fitted.. Yes, like all Porsche's that are modified in some way may have an effect on value, yet if I owned a Cayman, a wing would be first on my list of modsYeah if i can find a wing that is somewhat like the new GT4 i would be happy but everything on the market now is just asking for me to get pulled over and defected. Thanks for your support Lee. MFX Posted 18February, 2016 Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 That wing looks good. Balances out nicely. I do like the bigger wings (probably the boy racer in me still trying to get out), but I don't think I would have ever put one on my car. That on the other hand is something I would look at. hugh Posted 18February, 2016 Report Share Posted 18February, 2016 Is it just me or does the GT3 front look like it doesn't quite fit right? Cant say I'm a fan, but if your feeling it then so be it.
BlitzKonig Posted 19February, 2016 Report Share Posted 19February, 2016 It doesnt look balanced anymore with the GT3 front. The cayman is quite round and soft, the GT3 angled and edgy. By changing the front, the rear and side skits are laking. I think this could be pulled off, but only if you want with a wide body kit to finish it off. Also, that rear duck tail looks amazing. Yeah i was thinking going all out with a wide body but it is a bit too much for my liking.
Tit Posted 19February, 2016 Report Share Posted 19February, 2016 That front bar looks sweet. I agree it needs different side skirts to look well integrated, though.

Tit Posted 19February, 2016 Report Share Posted 19February, 2016 Thanks Tit,That looks great Now i have to find one for a 987, wonder if that 370Z skirt would fit on the Cayman...Dont need to get that funky. Mock up a flat piece with some wood for fitment and shape. Screw it on to test. Then once you work it out or fab them with CF or plastic.Like this. Not permanent or expensive..http://www.optimaforums.com/forum/7-optima-appearance-body-modifications/75025-diy-cf-side-skirt-extensions.html#/forumsite/20671/topics/75025?page=1Heres another thread. SteveT Posted 19February, 2016 Report Share Posted 19February, 2016 I'm not a fan of that front bar. Too busy or something but I like that rear wing. Enjoy it whatever you decide.
spiller Posted 19February, 2016 Report Share Posted 19February, 2016 I think it would work better with a 997.1 GT3 front bumper. A bit rounder than the angular 991 bumper and that suits the 986 styling a little better IMO.

Thats what i was thinking of doing but when i saw the bumpers available i got put off, the 997 GT3 bumper doesn't as good without having the 997 fenders and head lights. Here is the bumper with Cayman fenders/head lights:And here is one with the complete 997 conversion: Now ive found another place that is working on a direct bolt on GT4 bumper for the 987.After some quick Photoshopping this is what it might look like:
MFX Posted 20February, 2016 Report Share Posted 20February, 2016 To me, I wouldn't go try to dress it up like replica of another car as often it just looks tacky. Embrace the fact that it is already a very nice looking Porsche and enhance it a bit. Something like the lip on this car added to the standard bar and some of the basic flat skirts is perfect. Don't need to go the wide body.
Tit Posted 20February, 2016 Report Share Posted 20February, 2016 Now, ignoring the baller stance... here's some skirt and bumper ideas...http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/05/a-kevlar-wearing-porsche-cayman-s/http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/04/against-the-grain-a-juiced-cayman-s/http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/04/behind-closed-doors-milestone71/
TE911 Posted 20February, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 20February, 2016 Now, ignoring the baller stance... here's some skirt and bumper ideas...HAHA no hella stance for me thanks. I am planing a 35mm drop though.Yeah i was looking at mix and matching some of these kits and others, i still might but the 991 GT3 bumper on a Cayman just caught my eye.Otherwise i was thinking of getting the same front splitters from the red Cayman or this (better view of the black Cayamn's splitter) :http://sharkwerks.com/porsche/987-cayman-and-boxster/70-sharkwerks-project-2006-cayman-s-rs350.html
