DATSUN CAR CLUB of AUSTRALIA reunion

Recommended Posts

I know from some of the posts here on our forum, we have a few people who cut their teeth on Datsuns in the early days.

If you happen to be one of those people, and you were a member of the (Victorian) DATSUN CAR CLUB of AUSTRALIA, (Now known as the NISSAN CAR CLUB of AUSTRALIA)

then there is a reunion happening soon.

Venue is FERNTREE GULLY GOLF CLUB and from 6.00pm on Saturday the 23rd of April, 2016 till midnight.

Drinks at bar prices and counter meals for you to purchase yourself.

There are currently 61 confirmed ex DCCA members attending.

If anyone is an ex member and interested please PM for further details.

Niko

Ahh the memories.........my first really 'cool' car was a 76 Datsun 260z, blue over silver.  I though I was the Raddest Cat on the block when I was cruising down the street in my very early 20's.  Sigh......what happened...look at me now!!  Always wanted a Datsun 2000 sports.  If I had one of those I really would have been Rad!!

Oh really....that's a bit sad, why what's the problem with it?

nothing really it's stock standard in good nick and just completely underwhelming imo (have just fixed the fume leaks at least), but don't want to spend money on mods- i would need to spend a lot before I'm happy with it and would lose that money should I still decide to sell.

The problem is I had built up quite a bit of expectation for it in my head before getting one.. And a direct comparison to an e36 m3 straight afterwards did not help it. I tend to use my cars for interstate trips a lot and the Z doesn't work well for that task.

On the other side of the coin my friend has a 1200 coupe and I love it- it's like a rwd Mini Cooper haha.

Hmm...there might be some people I know who may be interested in it......If I had the room, I would certainly be talking to you.

Stock standard is a big plus...

Your a hard task master comparing to the E36 M3...

This is a DCCA sort of thread, so we are not going off post...

Post up a photo or two if you have them and I will pass them on to a few datto people I know.

If you want to get rid of it that is....

Or Even if you don't....

unfortunately the car was not created in a vacuum so comparisons are inevitable :P

i'm not keen on giving up on the car just yet and have bought a kameari front lip and duck tail and will revamp the suspension and brakes (but am limiting myself to 15" diameter wheel maximum for period correct looks). am tossing up what to do about the engine, car is booked in with SW motorsport in a few months. A six speed of some sort (from an s15?) would also help fill the giant gap between 2nd and 3rd gears.

Love Datsun's..  Always wanted a 240Z, and the only one I've owned was a SP311 Fairlady (1600 Sporty)

There really was only one way to drive that car and it was a lot of fun.  Living in the country at the time had its benefits..  Datsun's and early Rotaries, the good old days, and Datsun 1600's with 13B's and Weber's..!

Agree with everything except a Datto with a 13B in it...Sacrilege......

nothing nicer than the sound of 16 on full tilt, with a couple of 45mm Webers or in my case 48mm Dellortos blurting through the atmosphere.

Rotary. Rotary.....:o   no no no    wash your mouth out....:P

We used to get into those trannie tunnels with a big swinging lump hammer..!  ;)

We'll make it fit..  BANG..!  Little bit more..  WHACK..!  Gas axing tail shafts and rejoining and centering the fabricated one with tooth pics, yep, looks right, weld it up.  No vibration. Perfect. Real back yarders on a mission..!

Anyway, back on topic :)
