1976 Targa 3.0 in pieces

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

As title suggests I have a 1976 Targa 911sc Carrera 3.0 that is currently in pieces in my garage.

It was a project car my uncle started but has since moved away into bushland and has been left with me to offload. It was a complete running vehicle before the strip so has everything needed to be complete except.......... The wiring loom. This was very brittle and a lot of the insulation broke away when he removed it. Unfortunately the looms were thrown away during the move.

The body is straight, suspension fresh, silver paint ok, interior is red leather and carpet, 3.0 with mechanical injection, 5speed manual.

What sort of offers should be expected for something like this?

I have attached a photo from before it was stripped.

Hi...

Do you have any photos of the current condition of the car? what condition is the engine & gearbox in? can you post up the engine number & Vin

this will help establish what it's worth... also do you know where it was delivered new?

Is this a paid add?

Don't mean to stir the pot at all and certainly not pointed at Airhead,  but .....

Seems to me that the poster is asking for advice as to how much his car may be worth. At no point has he offered it for sale to anyone here on the forum.

To add to that .... If someone here does get a "heads up" on a car coming to market before it actually does, I personally don't see the problem .... only a benefit.

All of the financial members need to stop jumping on "members" and / or "newbies" that come here asking for advice ... after all, isn't that what a public forum is all about?

Just because another member turns it into a possible sale, doesn't mean that it's the posters fault .... (not pointing the finger James P, just a general observation over the past few years) .....

pfa would have its pockets stuffed with filthy lucre if say what's for sale in oz was a sealed section... Worked for cleo ;)

Except that Cleo had a cult following ....

PFA has tragic Porsche enthusiasts .....

Hmmmmm ..... kinda the same thing I spose.

Sealing the "Whats For Sale" thread wouldn't help .... there's hardly anything posted for sale in there ... it's all banter between "those that have paid" and "those that haven't" ..

I hear you Roni.............

Financial membership is more about giving members an opportunity to make a contribution to running the forum and in turn providing them with additional 'perks' as a result of a small fee. Its not to be seen as discouraging new members from joining or posting potential items for sale but rather providing access to large network of contacts for what is a relatively small fee - its a 2 way street, yes we benefit from more members and their input but they also in turn benefit from our existing membership and reach...............

Something to think about @76Targa3.0, small price to pay and I'm sure you will get your monies worth. :)

Well excuse me. I'll go and stand in the corner shall I?

Yes, I'm just checking estimate prices as it is.

I am searching around for loom options aswell and then will weigh up the pros and cons of selling it as is, or putting it back together to sell as a complete running vehicle. In the end the decision is up to my uncle as its his car.

Started by removing the engine to do the oil thermostat leak and also wanted to convert it to carbs. Then decided he wanted to do a full resto, bead blast/acid dip and new paint etc.

Things changed so project went on hold and now he's moved and doesn't want to continue resto anymore.

As James P said one needs to see photos of the car in its present stae including interior etc before commenting further on likely value. A friend recently bought  a slightly later Carrera Targa, high miledge, nice Fuch's, (no tail), expected trim for the Ks but good driver and unmollested for $ 55 K

...Yes Michel correct late 77 model SC, think it would have the galvanised body? Looked very original and rust free,  a good basis for resto or tidy up to drive and enjoy!

I know that car, last time I looked at it, had a 915 in place of the sporto(as mentioned), haven't seen it for about 5 or so years, so a lot

could have (and probably has changed) in that time. But I can confirm it is a C3, non original interior, and quite a few other non original bits.
