Refitting rear indicator lens

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of putting new seals on my rear indicators on my 84 911. When I put the lenses back on with the new seals, for lack of better terminology do I just squish it back on, or do I fit it under/on top of the lip of the rubber seal so there is a very small amount of overhang?

Does that make sense?

I used a thin layer of contact cement on the light housing to hold the seal in place, then placed the lens onto the rubber.  From memory there is a small recess in the lens for the rubber to sit in. Firmly hold the lens in place then put the screws in.  Because of the angles of the screws you cannot just put one in and tighten, being careful not to over tighten individual screws, as you can crack the lens, in other words screw down together and don't over tighten.  Screws should be firm, not herculean tight.  Put the car out in the sun to soften the seal then recheck the screw tension or wait a couple of days for the rubber to settle then check.

You could put he car out in the sun, while waiting for the glue to dry, prior to fitting the lens to soften the seal.
