Favourite photo locations

Recommended Posts

We've all got our favourite "special spot", where's yours?   A couple that spring to mind are @Pauly's night shots at Docklands and @Kerry has some lovely backdrops in some of his pics.

Share your best places to dust off the SLR and get that perfect shot of your beloved Porsche.

I thought you meant, where you store them online! :P

I find photobucket, etc pretty horrid. Love smugmug.  If anyone wants to try it out, PM me and we can both get some subscription discounts! :P

As for location location, it's not my favourite, but it's the best location locally....there's some good corners to shoot from on Brindabella Road in the ACT (photos hosted on SmugMug! :P)...

Unfortunately my location is now shut!!!

I don't have any "favourite" locations, I like to find somewhere new every time.

Here's just a few shots i have. Nothing recent unfortunately. Mind you i just have a cheaper DSLR with a 18-50mm lens.

This is in docklands

Yep, drive around Collingwood, and the surrounding towns, you'll find some nice street art backdrops.

I don't particularly have any favourites, but this one is pretty stunning on the right day. Arthur's Seat. The drive up and down is pretty good too, as long as the tourists and cyclists have buggered off.

Tit, the overhead shot looks great.

Pauly, I made my way into Docklands tonight and as you say, it's closed off with building and road works.  The city lights make a nice background.  Your night shots are great, very moody with the bright  colours against the dark scenes.

Mike, Arthur's Seat would be spectacular at the right time of day.  Sunset, storms rolling in across the bay etc make a great backdrop.

I explored a bit of the Port Melbourne area tonight.  I learned that I need a tripod, hand held camera at night is tricky.

Webb Dock Drive. Its a public road but Customs don't like you hanging around there.

There is a beach south of Adelaide called Silver Sands where you can drive your car onto the beach.  It's a few kms long and the sand is like Tarmac where the cars drive so no fear of bogging or salty sand under the arches.

The scenery with the Southern Ocean in the background on a stormy day is really dramatic. Or pristine on a sunny, calm day.

Sorry I don't have any worthy pics. Maybe one of my fellow Adelaidians can chime in?

Here's one close for you Harv's. Top level of Leo's car park in Hartwell. I took a bunch of shots there but these two were my favorites

North point in Brighton was also a good location the other week
Unfortunately my camera was flat so I had to swap out for the phone camera when I took this

Close alright. I could walk there.  At Holden we've used our roof top carpark for photoshoots. Having a controlled environment combined with a great view of the city skyline makes for good results.

I need to get a new set of tyres, when i have fresh rubber, I'll go look for some new spots.

I like just packing my camera and tripod (charged!!!!! with a spare SD Card!!! don't ask..) and going for a drive in particular locations. Sometimes you'll drive past a place and be like Oh damn, i can take a photo here. That's how i found the street art spots.

I've tried the city, It's a little difficult to park where you'd like to for obvious reasons.

I'm much the same, you never know what you'll come across. Example, Greville Street last weekend...
