[NSW] Autohaus Northern Loop 7th August 2016

Recommended Posts

Autohaus Drive is on this Sunday, finishing up at Gosford Motor Museum.

As you’re probably aware our June 5th ‘Northern Loop’ social drive was washed-out and postponed, this was unfortunately due to the wind and rain storms which hit most of NSW. Having now looked into our upcoming months scheduling and the first available weekend for a re-run lands on Sunday the 7th of August 2016.

We would like to take this opportunity to formally re-invite you to attend and enjoy our Sunday the 7th of August’s ‘NORTHERN LOOP’ social drive. The drive itself will be kicking off at Berowra, total distance will be approximately 180 km and around 2.5 hours of driving, finishing at the brand new Motor Museum in West Gosford.

Drive Details
Date: Sunday 7th August 2016
Where: Cowan Rest Area - Truck Stop (Old Toll Gates) Old Pacific Hwy, Berowra

  • 07:00 - Coffee
  • 07:30 - Driver Briefing & Road book collection

I am up for this. I think my 3.2 is in slightly better than just "running" condition.;)

I can wait for you to pass and then tag on at the Pacific Highway, Pymble if you can indicate an approximate time.

Leaving Queen St Woollahra by 6:30 so should be driving through Pymble before 7am

@JV911 you and Matt up for this one? Might be some rain...

@michel fancy a long drive north?

You still going to be hanging outside the ladies college Sunday Morning? Does 'cute grandpa' work?

Jad, more than up for a northerly pursuit, though doing two back to back.. this and the loaded dog 13 Aug , well I suspect I'd be less than popular.

The 7/11 is just up the road at Turramurra. Isn't that where we met when nI had the RS? I suggest we aim to b there for 6.45 and then the Eastern suburbs guys can drive by and pick us up.

265 kms later and I am now home. there were 53 cars on this little mission, a complex rout, lots of getting lost and somehow, everybody meeting back up at Gosford Bunnings to view the car lot. When we were lost, there was some spirited driving on some fine roads. When we were more in convoy, it was clear that a few were auditioning for "Driving Miss Daisy". Overall, a fun drive.

Everything said about the Gosford car lot is true. You cannot get close to the cars and they are parked too close together. I would also love to understand the "logic" behind how the cars were laid out. It looked more like it had been set up by some young parking attendant than by a proper curator. There is a whole section of cars for sale, maybe appropriately in what used to be the gardening section. Almost every single one of those cars had something obviously "wrong", with a lot of very dodgy paint work. We were pretty sure that everything else was for sale, even if it wasn't advertised.

A few of us inspected TurboT's hole in the ground and tried to crush his car, followed by a quick lunch and home in time to fall asleep on the sofa in front of the TV. Good day out!

A great morning out, big thanks to Autohaus for finding some new roads, and no thanks to most of us for getting lost... A few of Sergio's snaps from the run, more here:

It was a good day and tested our navigation skills somewhat after we all got separated by the bikes on the old Pac Hwy, our pink lycra friend above was absolutely going off because we buggered up his downhill run down the Hwy, he was behind me for a fair way and i could hear him swearing and nutting off through my open sunroof, don't worry mate the feeling was mutual.
