Torsion bar size recommendation

Hi all,

Just purchasing the last components of my suspension overhaul on my SC and am left with what to do in regards to torsion bar sizes. I already have a strut brace installed and I have purchased rubber bushes throughout with Koni Sports. I definitely want to stiffen the back as it is too pliable for my liking.

I am contemplating 21/27, but am in two minds to only upgrade the rears?

I welcome feedback from the collective community regarding their experiences.

Thank you kindly

The more normal combination with 21's in the front is 28's at the rear. The question is whether this is stiffer than you really need. If you stay standard at the front, go with 26 at the rear. I suspect that will work well for you, particularly as you have gone for rubber bushes and not something more aggressive.

Reading your other comments, I assume that with this set up you are going to lower the car. If so, have you got a bump steer kit? I would go with the rack spacers (parts are very cheap and it doesn't take long to fit.. And while you are at it, you should be fitting turbo track rod ends. I personally believe without those 2 things, you will be short changing yourself.

Finally, all the mods in the world are pretty useless unless you have it all set up decently. IMO, you want both alignment and corner weighting done. The difference between OK and good is night and day.

Grateful for the feedback @Simon Nelson

Turbo tie rods are already installed, however, I will be purchasing new just because everything else is ;)

Regarding bump steer kit, already purchased and awaiting fitment with the other goodies. The rack will also get a look-over and of course a proper 4 corner alignment is in order.
