I would love to own a marque from a true coach builder. Never will, but it would be nice.

A RollsRoyce does not break down. it 'fails to proceed.'

Likewise a Bentley. Friend of mine has just bought a magnificent 1952 rare Bentley saloon for 18 grand...local knowledge...

Bentleys get the nod from me , with motorsports heritage. Mind you , RR engines powered planes and military vehicles, including my uncle's fabulous Humber Pig.

Fuchs wheel, often (if not always) linked to 911s, but Fuchs made/ make many different wheels... the ones on my 928 are Fuchs.

Interesting that Fuchs call the 911 wheels Porsche "windmill-wheels", not quite the same ring to it.....

As a side note they also restore older wheels....

Toyota only made one convertible 2000gt.  It was used for filming 'you only live twice'.  It had the roof cut off both because Sean Connery didn't fit and because the shape didn't lend itself to good filming.  Strictly speaking it is a spyder because there actially wasn't a roof.

The speed in which the Japanese engineered it is equally impressive.

And in the movie Connery didn't drive it. The girl did.

Why? He was too big and couldn't get under the steering wheel. Think the car was lengthened as well.

I believe a greater safety device would be a spike in the region of the horn pad.

ah la early Hyundai excel. If you knew what was behind the dash padding of one of thoe youd never drive one, let alone have a crash in one.  Anyway, who names a car after a computer program?  Honey, I'm just foing to the dealer to pick up our new adode acrobat reader GT.

... Which is "Grovel" backwards...  what do they drink in the Naming Section of Subaru?

Not sure, but they seem to share it around all the Japanese auto manufacturers..... :)

Porsche designed the V-Rod Harley engine.

Ferdinand Porsche :

- invented the first petrol/electric hybrid

- worked for Mercedes, auto-Union and Volkswagen (well, the nazis)

- was a member of the nazi party as well as the SS

- invented a tiger tank which was powerful but unreliable

- was imprisoned as a war criminal by the French

- formed a company called Dr inf cf Porsche (check your compliance plate) but never actually attended university, it was an honorary title

- got paid a royalty for every beetle ever produced

- invented the mid engine, rear drive racing car used almost everywhere

- was a chauffeur for Archduke Ferdinand at one point, who was later assisinated when his chauffeur (not Porsche) took a wrong turn, sparking World War One

- died not long after actually starting to build cars with the company which bears his name

- was not actually German by birth

Makes for a fascinating life story.  I reckon would make a great biographic movie.
