2006 Cayman S

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm a new member and looking to purchase a 2006 Cayman S. I've found one with about 40,000 k's, one owner, full service history and asking around $58,000.

Are there any issues I should be looking for in a 10 year old Cayman S with low k's. Is $58,000 a reasonable price for this vehicle.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Peter.

From what I have seen on Carsales over the last 6 months, $58k may be a bit over the mark. I would aim for low 50s.  But if the one you are looking at is a really good example, I wouldn't let price be a driving factor

As D2000 says, don't let the price be the deciding factor if you find a good one. The car you describe, I think could be got for $55k if that history is really "full". Options are a factor on price. Does it have full leather interior, Sport Chrono, Sports Exhaust? etc.

40,000 kms in 10 years is very low mileage, and if its been maintained well, then all good. These cars need to be driven and examples with low mileage are sometimes not the best examples you think they'd be.

I've posted everything I know about them on this thread, There's some good advice on there Cayman Ownership  Receipts and service records are a must. A major service (if it hasn't been done) will set you back about $2k.

More than happy to help, as I went through the same process a couple of years back. There's a few more CS's around now, which is useful when you're hunting for a good one.

If you've read through the thread I linked Peter, and still have questions, then feel free to ask or Private Message me.

2009-onwards models have an improved engine. at $58k you're edging close to these. there have been a few 987.2 boxsters move around this price lately.

From what I have seen the 09+ Cayman S are still a long way from 60k. Particularly in manual.

True. 987.2 Cayman S (if you can find one) are $80k plus. Non-S manuals are still close to $70k.

There is a second-gen Boxster on Carsales for $60k, but again, it's a non S.

I think Peter is flexible i, so likely look at a later gen if one presents.

ive also being encouraging him to post a wanted here on the forum.

So so if anyone has a pre 2010 gen cayman S manual. preferably in a white or, dark grey metallic/flat,  or other interesting colour - not red or yellow ... And thinking of selling step forward

Peter my newbie Porsche mate  got his first gazumping ala mid late 2015 style

. seller a bit of a knob it seems. Despite agreed price a deposit and booked PPI. He sells it to someone else.

Sounds like a tool. People don't seem to have any ethics any more.
