Where are the 964's and Carrera 3,s

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, looking for a good 964 manual (C4 or C2) or Carerra 3.0 ( only Oz delivered for either) but there seems slim pickings on 'the market' at lotto number figures - anyone you know toying with selling at current market values?

What do you think is "current market values"?

To clarify from my perspective of current market value is what they are actually selling for not what they are advertised for. I believe there may be a big delta between the two figures!??

A big delta yes - usually, often, sometimes, maybe not always a big delta ...that is the big mystery! "

"looking for a good 964 manual (C4 or C2) or Carerra 3.0 ( only Oz delivered for either)" one man's good is another mans excellent is another man's average. Overall sale price of these 3 models in "good" knick could span from $75k to $175k .....enjoy the hunt and the thrill of the chase!

I hadn't realised just how few cars are currently are available that don't have some price challenging feature, such as converted to RHD, non matching numbers etc. And because of this, people seem to be trying their luck by asking top dollar for cars that when compared with Oz delivered, matching numbers etc.

One thing I would suggest to those looking, from my own experience. Don't dismiss non Oz delivered cars, or even rhd converts, so long as they are properly priced and the cars pass a reputable PPI that shows they are converted properly and are otherwise OK. The driving experience is exactly the same and they look the same. at the right price, they represent great value. It's rather nice driving the same car as somebody else knowing you have paid 25-40% less than them! I think you will only get into trouble if you buy cars that are not only non Oz delivered but which aren't standard - somebody's personal project is probably going to be harder to shift in the future unless the car happens to be really special.

Carrera 3.0's - don't kid yourself . Mostly a sellers market irrespective of the perceived delta.

That RSR coupe was on eBay approx  6 weeks ago if not mistaken. If same one had an 80k BIN ??? on it.  High km's but a 'dirty cheap'  oz delivered C3 coupe.

Or a different car?

Being a a few other nice ones around though RHD converted.

964's what happened to Toms old prancer? Wasn't that a C4 man sub 90k . Depreciation proof as it seems to have already gone through 2 cycles . lol

Simon and Obrut both make a couple of good points

good luck with the hunt

There have been a couple of C3's floating around, pretty sure @Skidmarks just picked one up? 964 C2's seem much harder to come by although I did speak to another owner over the weekend who had just turned down a 150k offer on his.

Cascone did have a C2 customer car for sale, was a tipper in white. Keep a close eye out, best of luck.

I did just buy one.  Depending on how you look at things as I did a one for one and cash deal on my 996 C4S but I paid $105,000 for a converted matching numbers car.  It's a car known on the forum and I bought it for its boy racer bits as well as it being far rarer than SC's or 3.2's.  Not sure of the exact number but I understand that Porsche made around 3500 over the 76/77 year.  I think the right money for a C3 is around 120-140 for a good one with matching everything (irrespective of whether one dresses to the left or right). At that they are great value as they are basically a 2.7 Carrera but with Kjet and the 930 case.

I am not sure that is correct. I nearly made a fool of myself with that car (I had drafted the email with comments about the price and an offer before I spotted it was a C3:ph34r:). It was on the market for something like 3 weeks and I heard it sold for significantly less than asked. Of course, that info was very second hand, so who knows.

TBH I can't remember exactly how long it lasted on carsales but it seemed a very "short" time.  No idea if it actually sold or what it sold for.

That's the car! I was new to the IB scene and only saw "carrera", not knowing what it was and as said, drafted a message something along the lines of "I see you have had the car on the market for some time. Maybe that's because you got the price wrong. Is there really meant to be a 1 in front of the 82,000? If you are willing to talk a sensible price, I am a keen buyer with cash!" Then somebody educated me:D
