tomo Posted 24August, 2016 Report Share Posted 24August, 2016 The last Porsche 911 GT2 RS was just about the craziest 911 ever to reach production when it debuted in 2010. It had an engine from a 911 Turbo, tuned to over 600 horsepower. Just like every other 997-era GT Porsche, it came with a fantastic six-speed manual exclusively. The craziest part was, it sent all that turbo power through just the rear wheels. And now, a replacement is coming. That's right, a brand new GT2 RS has just been spotted testing at the Nürburgring. Just like before, we're expecting it to use a twin-turbo flat-six motor, while keeping its rear-wheel-drive layout. Unsurprisingly, we can see a huge rear wing, and a GT2-style rear bumper. Flared out fenders are present as well, hinting at some extremely wide rubber. Judging by the speed the car's carrying through the corners, it's going to be very, very fast. The only mystery surrounding the new GT2 RS is the gearbox. We're not sure if Porsche will decide to make the car PDK-only like its GT3 brethren, or surprise the faithful with a good old fashioned manual. We'll just have to wait and see when Porsche finally gives an official announcement.
