Bris996TT Posted 26November, 2017 Report Share Posted 26November, 2017 Hi all, it appears my diff has worn out. I believe due to the wrong wheels & tyres fitted between front & rear causing a 19mm tyre diameter difference. They were on the car when I bought it at 45,000 kms early this year but don't know how long on car. Is there anyone in AUS known for rebuilding Porsche Tiptronic Gearboxes & Torque Converters & Diffs? Is the diff the same as used in the manual transmission? The tiptronic in the 996 Turbo is built by MB for Porsche I believe. Maybe might be cheaper buying a complete secondhand gearbox from overseas. Problem is no warranty & don't always believe auto dismantlers claim on very low kms. Sitting on a shelf for years with low kms (claimed) probably would not be good especially for seals etc. Have spent a lot of time online with few results especially regarding overhauls. Any info would be great.
318touring Posted 26November, 2017 Report Share Posted 26November, 2017 As it is an MB box there should be transmission specialists that have worked on them before. Would probably be easier, cheaper and safer to get them rebuild?
