Boxster Front Parking Sensor Help

Hey Guys,

 

Just planning to get a boxster soon and I have a really dumb question as I forgot to test it when I was at the test drive.

 

Say if you are driving towards a object, when it is getting closer would the image come up on the display automatically so you know you are about to hit something? (Say if your screen was on Map at the moment). Mercedes has the parking sensor indicator fitted on the dash close to the windscreen, so I can see how far away I'm from the object in front of the car.
