tungatina64 Posted 4July, 2012 Report Share Posted 4July, 2012 Hi All, What are thoughts on helmet visors when at track (non competitive) events. Best to be down, up or removed? I have mine attached but generally drive with it up (meaning they it slowly works its way down - annoying). I have it up to provide a little air movement, however should it be down to stop getting my eyes in the case of an accident? Or maybe it makes no difference and better to be removed? Guest vas930 Posted 4July, 2012 Report Share Posted 4July, 2012 Hi, Mike. I too am a member of the visor up club. Just dont like it down for the air flow. I raced karts for ten years with it down, but inside a car it feels to constrictive. I would have thought for safety it should be down. I will check on CAMS to see if its a rule. Cool subject. Airhead Posted 4July, 2012 Report Share Posted 4July, 2012 You can run an open face helmet in a closed car so no CAMS requirement to have one. I usually run mine party closed when in a roofed car for safety (broken screen in crash situation or errant rock etc) with a a finger width gap for air flow. Maybe tighten the locating pins if it has them to stop the droop - so to speak.
tungatina64 Posted 24July, 2012 Author Report Share Posted 24July, 2012 I have taken my visor off and replaced with a peak. Works really well as have the air flow and the peak actually shades the eyes a little and avoids wearing sunglasses when sun is low.
Airhead Posted 24July, 2012 Report Share Posted 24July, 2012 No excuse (distractions) now so you should be 1 - 2 secs a lap quicker!!!!
