Oldknees Posted 17March, 2022 Report Share Posted 17March, 2022 Got this from my dealer today. Production problems: Dear Porsche Order Holder. Thank you again for your entrusting the order for your personalised Porsche to the team at Porsche Centre Willoughby (PCW). We take the business of ordering your new vehicle very seriously and endeavour to have you behind the wheel in as short a time as possible, so that you can begin enjoying all the benefits that Porsche ownership brings. However, our efforts on this front have been hindered of late by global events outside PCW’s and Porsche Germany’s (PAG) control. The worldwide semiconductor shortage issue, which has limited PAG’s ability to source the various electronic components required to complete a new Porsche, has severely impacted the efficiency of all our production lines. PAG had been managing this issue by omitting those electronic components that could be fitted after the vehicle had arrived at the dealership, thus allowing the supply chain additional time to supply these components whilst the vehicle was in transit. This approach has proved very successful to date and had meant that Porsche had no need to remove standard equipment from our model lines. However, recent developments have meant that future supply of a particular component – the control module for the electrically adjustable steering column – has become unmanageable for certain model lines. Vehicles built after the below dates will therefore be fitted with a manually adjustable steering column with no option to retrofit the electronic unit – Macan (all variants) – CW 03/22 (commencing 17th January 2022) Cayenne (Wagon & Coupe variants of the Cayenne, Cayenne Platinum Edition, Cayenne e-Hybrid, Cayenne e-Hybrid Platinum Edition, Cayenne S, Cayenne S Platinum Edition) – CW 08/22 (commencing 21st February 2022) 911 (Coupe, Cabriolet & Targa variants of the 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera 4, 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera 4S, 911 Carrera GTS & 911 Carrera 4 GTS ) – CW 11/22 (commencing 14th March 2022) We apologise to those order holders affected by this decision but can assure you that there was no alternative present. Your vehicles steering column will still feature the full range of adjustment but will need to be adjusted manually. This arrangement will continue for the foreseeable future. The armed conflict in Ukraine, which we view with great concern and dismay, is also affecting PAG’s ability to maintain orderly production due its impacts on numerous supply chains. Delays to vehicle delivery dates are inevitable, however PAG have engaged a task force to continuously assess the situation and limit delays where possible. The degree to which individual orders will be delayed cannot be determined at this point, however your individual sales consultant will be able to provide you with updates on the status of your order as it reaches the various production milestones. We ask for your understanding in the current situation – should the delivery ETA you received at the time of ordering your new car not be until the second half of 2022 we would ask for additional patience and request that you don’t reach out to your sales consultant immediately. We felt it pertinent to share this information with you to ensure that you are well informed of the issues affecting your order. Any updated information will be shared with you in a similar fashion as and when it becomes available.
