DaveO90S4 Posted 21January Report Share Posted 21January Try as I might, I can not find in my relay panel the relay for the headlight washer system on my RHD 1981 924 Turbo. Relay # 928 618 111 00. Can someone please enlighten me? (I can not turn off the headlight washer system when the headlights are raised - finding and checking the relay seems like a sensible first step) Thanks in advance DaveO
Dreamr Posted 21January Report Share Posted 21January Hey @DaveO90S4, If there is one, it should be the 4th one up from the bottom. Cheers
DaveO90S4 Posted 21January Author Report Share Posted 21January Thanks for that Dreamr. I will have to look harder! In the image you kindly attached there are clearly 2 rows of relays. I can only see on my car one row of relays - the row with the horn relay - and not the top row. But it is very evident that in this car's past someone has been playing with wiring:- looks like lots of remaining wires and in-line fuses for a now non-existent non-factory stereo amplifier. I will keep hunting. Not that I need the headlight washer system, but I do need to stop it working all the time whenever the headlights are on. Thus far I have simply pulled the plug off the motor. That works and is the quick fix. But it is not the 'right' fix. Cheers DaveO
DaveO90S4 Posted 22January Author Report Share Posted 22January Fixed. Thanks. I could not find the 928xxx relay because someone gad put a vw 111xxx relay in instead. I have put in a typical ‘normally open’ 4-pin ‘type 53’ relay (same as horn relay). Washers work properly now, but can be operated with headlights down (who would ever do this, and it wouldn’t matter if they did) and does not have a time limit (but the switch is spring loaded and who would ever drive along holding that switch in yhe on position for any extended time). So I will call this a ‘win’. Now to find reason for no low beam power to lh headlight. Works properly when i run a parallel power wire from fuse 1 direct to bulb connector , so very likely a break in that original wire. I’ll trace it from each end and see what I find Cheers DaveO
