35SIXXX Posted 8August, 2023 Report Share Posted 8August, 2023 I’m wanting to upgrade my headlights in a 1974 911 as the light output is quite pathetic. I was looking at changing to a brighter LED H4 lamp, but then found there’s a heap of options out these days, including tiny little LED mini projector lamps. I don’t want to change the whole lens assembly as I want the car to look standard during the day, but would accept a cooler colour temperature light. Would also consider a tiny projector lamp inside the glass if the light quality was significantly better. Has anyone tried any of these new lamps? Anyone know how much space we have in the headlight bucket behind the reflector? Some lamps require a small driver which I’m guessing may have to fit in between? And what’s the wattage of the original lamp? And how much higher can we go before needing to replace wiring? Thanks guys.
Peter M Posted 8August, 2023 Report Share Posted 8August, 2023 I suggest you try adding a set of relays to the headlight circuit before you disfigure your car with LED's. https://www.jwestengineering.com/911-Headlight-Relay-Kit-74-89_p_14.html 35SIXXX
