myred911 Posted 27September, 2013 Report Share Posted 27September, 2013 Good Morning to all. This is the second report of our trip back from Sydney via the high country. I had been monitoring the VicRoads & RTA websites for road conditions across the top given that snow chains were required. The motel owner in Lakes Entrance "reckoned" the road was open, so we took a punt on being able to get across, even if we had to carry chains (a pain). Coffee in Orbost and another chat to a local. He confirmed that the end of the snow season came with a whimper, hardly any snow left to require chains be carried. He said that the snow season officially closed 2 days ago so we were clear to take the run. The road was open. Here is a short video. The best part of the trip was downhill into Bright but as it would be, the GoPro battery did not last to record that trip. Probably just as well. The apprentice driver was very calm as I pushed things along. A new set of Kumos on the front sure kept me pointing in the right direction. myred911 Posted 29September, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 29September, 2013 Hi Mark, A trip in the reverse direction, ie Bright to Orbost is the next to aim for, I noted some great second gear uphill corners that will certainly test the torquey S2. Just a matter for planning. Go Cats for '14 Andrew
