tazzieman Posted 21May, 2014 Report Share Posted 21May, 2014 This was re the 928 (our local dealer was shocked at how futuristic it looked in 1978 ; visiting Porsche mafia said it was designed to survive 20 years ; I think it holds up well after 35) Lapine deliberately planned the styling to be futuristic and a little shocking, in line with his notion that if a car looks good right away, it soon starts looking old hat. Certainly I can think of lots of cars around 10 years old that have had the whiff of hat about them and are now truly on the nose. And as for this quite ridiculous SUV trend of squashing the rear haunches down (all copying the Evoque) and in the process destroying any rear 1/4 visibility they ever had. But that factor, like unsafe exterior colours, doesn't appear in NCAP safety concerns. No wonder people seem to need all these driver assists!
