chrisheal Posted 6February, 2015 Report Share Posted 6February, 2015 Hi All, I have inherited my mums mint 2003 VW golf mk4, 55k on the clock ! I was wondering if a set of BMW BBS 16x7 rims from the same era would have the same bolt pattern ? Any help greatly appreciated ! Here is a pic of one of the rims. The current golf wheels have a 5x100 bolt pattern.
Alex69T Posted 6February, 2015 Report Share Posted 6February, 2015 Most BMWs have a 5/120 PCD. So, no go.
chrisheal Posted 6February, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 6February, 2015 Well that's a bummer, they were free ! Had plans of painting them matt black ...
Tit Posted 6February, 2015 Report Share Posted 6February, 2015 Depending on the offsets, you might be able to get adapters? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H-R-PCD-Adapters-Volkswagen-5x100-to-fit-BMW-5x120-wheels-1-PAIR-/380460784253 That looks like a +20mm change to the offset. So if the bimmer wheels are ET50, they'll be ET30 after using these. Or you can change the hubs...but that's a can of worms...
Stew F Posted 6February, 2015 Report Share Posted 6February, 2015 You've also got the hub location diameter to consider. If the rim is bigger you can use hubcentric rings, but if the rim is smaller you need to get them machined bigger. If the wheel doesn't sit against the hub face your wheel studs will come loose or worse, snap off, with less than favourable results.
chrisheal Posted 7February, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 7February, 2015 Thanks for the feedback guys, really helpful stuff ! I think I'll opt for some Audi rims which will fit straight on, Cheers
