Tiptronic - How do they behave?

New to the forum and I would like to hear your feedback. I plan on purchasing a 2006-2008 997S with the Sports Auto. It will not be PDK. I have no experience with them so I am seeking on-road drive feedback using a Tiptronic gearbox whilst underway.

Are you able to change down & hold in a specific gear whilst cornering for example? Or does it/ will it hunt or change gear when in low or mid throttle position? I think these boxes have gear selection buttons on the steering wheel. How useful/practical are they and are they intuitive to use?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have a tiptronic in my 9993 C2S and find it great. I change manually by the stick most of the time or when I am really lazy just let it do the changes for me. I find the buttons on the wheel are in the wrong place for where I have my hand placement so I don't use them. My understanding is that the new versions of tiptronic have been upgraded and change even quicker. My suggestion would be to take one for a long test drive and see what you think.

Good luck and let's us know how you get on.

Cheers

Chris
