Wol911 Posted 8January, 2012 Report Share Posted 8January, 2012 Hello everyone This is my first post as I am looking for some advice on the possible purchase of an ex USA 964 C4 1989 that has been converted to RHD. The car is currently registered in Vic and I live in QLD, the owner knows nothing of the import, conversion or any history as the car was payment for an outstanding debt. I have spoken to 2 Porsche specialists who have done work on this car and have made comments about its condition. I would have a pre purchase inspection done prior to buying. Can you tell me what paperwork is required to register this car in QLD? should it have a engineers report for the original conversion? If this is not available then what? or would I need to get a QLD engineers report to register here? should there be any import plates on the car and if so where are they normally put. Do any of you have experience of a good interstate transport company? Also any general comments regarding this. Many thanks, and I look forward to your advice. randall Posted 16January, 2012 Report Share Posted 16January, 2012 States do not seem to recognise other states engineering certificates as valid so you will more than likely have to obtain a local engineering certificate, any previous documentation may not be of much use. I had to go through this excersize myself in NSW (purchased an imported car that was previously registered in TAS). I did not need a specific certificate for RHD conversion. Import plate is located (at least in my car) under the bonnet on the left hand side. Transport company - CEVA seem to be a popular choice, there should be few threads on this forum related to freight companies.
