Rear wiper danger

Not sure if this is only a 996 issue or whether it applies to 997 also, but was told today that I should zip tie the rear wiper blade to the arm to prevent damage to the paint if the arm falls while the car is being washed.  Apparently quite common: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996-turbo-gt2/18989-rear-wiper-turbo-devil.html

I actually find the rear wiper quite useful, so not keen to remove it.  Appreciate the tip

omg.. i have a light scratch in that position when i bought it, always wondered what could've made those scratches. Now i know!

 

edit: confirmed! exactly right spot.. zip tying now.
