Gsaps Posted 24August, 2017 Report Share Posted 24August, 2017 apoligies if this has been asked before, when using an imported left hand drive 911 in Oz, do you have to change the headlights and if so, is it the whole unit or just the lenses ? thanks
Pauly Posted 24August, 2017 Report Share Posted 24August, 2017 yes you have to change them. RHD headlights lift the light beam towards the left to light up the signs, LHD do it to the right, so actually on the road, you'll be blinding other drivers. And US lights ( i think only US) have a wider beam.
Gsaps Posted 24August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 24August, 2017 Thanks Pauly, figured they'd need changing, do you know if it the whole unit though
Pauly Posted 24August, 2017 Report Share Posted 24August, 2017 Im not to sure. on my 944 the bulb is the lens. Could be the case of yours too. Go on pelican parts and seach the year of your car ect and seach for new headlights and you'll find out.

Coastr Posted 24August, 2017 Report Share Posted 24August, 2017 If it is a 911 with h4 lights it is just the lens. You can buy the lens only.if it is a 911 with us-spec sealed beams 'sugar scoop' lights they don't actually have a beam spreader, so you don't need to change but probably want to. Coastr Posted 26August, 2017 Report Share Posted 26August, 2017 I bought the h4s from a Uk site I think.new pairs cost around 900-1k, might do a bit better. Used rhd pairs are about 500 ish if you can find them. Also look into a headlight relay kit- combined with the h4s it makes a huge difference.i also have my sugar scoops as a retirement plan - along with my boat anchor AC compressor. Gsaps Posted 26August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 26August, 2017 Thanks guys, I think sugarscoops get a bad press, they look ok to me but get that they may not perform like the new ones... For me it just means I won't have to change them immediately to get the roadworthy passed
