cafe_racer Posted 21December, 2019 Report Share Posted 21December, 2019 So I got my stock a/c removed and classic retrofit installed. Washed the car today and noticed some water in the passenger footwell and cables below the centre console. unsure if the new a/c may be causing issues. maybe this has been happening and I missed it till today. eirthwr way based in the pic highlighting the wet areas any tips on diagnosing? thanks! OZ930 Posted 21December, 2019 Report Share Posted 21December, 2019 My guess, have a look at the drain from the new air box unit. Rainwater? (myth), wash water and evaporator water needs to escape somewhere. cafe_racer
cafe_racer Posted 21December, 2019 Author Report Share Posted 21December, 2019 My first thought too geez. This classic retrofit has been a giant ball ache. avoid avoid
OZ930 Posted 21December, 2019 Report Share Posted 21December, 2019 The factory evaporators were known to leak onto the pax floor too. From the instal instructions: Secure the blower using the two screws through the vent opening as per the original. You can use either side drain hole or both. There is a blanking cap in the pack. Either drain into the original tube or through the steering rack cavity. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make the drain tubes exactly line up (our tube needed to be at lowest point) so an ‘S’ bend may be required. May be worth checking. cafe_racer

OZ930 Posted 22December, 2019 Report Share Posted 22December, 2019 I found this interesting ”The restrictor is designed to let some fresh air in to the vehicle. In very hot conditions, a complete blank of the cowl vent may be necessary” cafe_racer
