Russ Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 i've been reading about these, but Pelican doesnt seem to have them available anymore: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/PEL_search.cgi?command=show_part_page&please_wait=N&make=POR&model=911M§ion=BDYtar&page=1&bookmark=0&part_number=JM-TB0011 Anyone got one lying around they're keen to sell? Uncle Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 Without joking Rus, I would look at gettng a factory strut brace with rose jointed ends and then getting someone like Al to tig is back togehter after you cut it to lenght. You would be done for under $100.
wasserkuhl Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 What Uncle said. However, do you notice your body flexing at all? is it a big problem? Do you have a front strut brace? (If you do this will increase the body flex elsewhere, ie: it moves the fuse or weak point) You could buy one from here : http://www.autoatlanta.com/Porsche-Targa-Frame-Brace-srch.html But, make sure you need it. I can think of some othr ways to spend money on your 911 that would be better......
Russ Posted 11January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 i want to see what it's like, i know theres other ways to spend money, and i'll never eliminate it completely, but i've heard lots of positive reviews.
Uncle Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NISSAN-SILVIA-S13-180SX-ADJUST-ALLOY-REAR-STRUT-BRACE-CA18DET-SR20DET-/120859106460?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c23c39c9c Buy that. Chuck away the strut mounts. Cut to length. Get tig'ed back together. Drink beer.
Russ Posted 11January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 i really just like the bolt in idea of the pelican ones, i've emailed the manufacturer and i'll see what he says the instructions, and not having to take my car places to get measured up etc appeals to me i am planning on getting the front strut brace too
wasserkuhl Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 http://www.ebay.com....=item1c23c39c9c Buy that. Chuck away the strut mounts. Cut to length. Get tig'ed back together. Drink beer. for me this is a natural conclusion. I keep forgetting that some of us dont have the tools and equipment available to effect these conclusions! If I didnt live here I could just do this stuff for fellow Porsche people. however some of us are at the beginning of our spanner journey so a bolt on option is easier. I really do wish I was on the eastern sea board so I could be more hands on to provide help, guidance and advice... keep us informed, are you on impactbumpers forum, I am sure you could find these braces on there via a WTB post. Russ Posted 11January, 2013 Author Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 theres an impact bumpers forum? I guess it's just laziness - i've got access to a TIG welder and even a hoist, but it's a few hundred KM's away at my dads house so i really need to prepare a group of things to do at once if i'm going to do it. As i've got a tiny little garage i'm comfortable with bolting stuff on, and doing basic stuff you provide enough of a service with your advice wasserkuhl!! maxy Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 I made my own rose jointed strut brace. Maybe I should make a few more? That targa brace looks easy. I wonder why Pelican doesn't sell them any more more. Do they work?
Uncle Posted 11January, 2013 Report Share Posted 11January, 2013 I'd be keen for a look at how you did yours Maxy. Any photo's?

Theres also a company selling some plate steel that welds in along the inside of the sills. then theres some crazy permanent targa roof replacements
