Porsche 964 Doors - OEM, Carbon Fibre or Aluminium?

Recommended Posts

I am rebuilding a 964 and need to make a decision on replacing the door sheet metal.

Singer leave the original OEM doors on the car and replace all other panels with carbon fibre.

The OEM doors are heavy but the door shut noise is irreplaceable.

Both Aluminium, and carbon fibre are lighter. Will you lose the door shut noise with these lighter composites?

I could be wrong but I thought they did this for side impact compliance?

Yep, That the spec :Note: The doors remain in steel to retain side impact resistance as they contain the impact safety beams fitted on later model 911s. Carbon fiber doors can be ordered at additional cost; however, they must be specified in conjunction with a full roll-cage.
