997even.1 Posted 17June, 2022 Report Share Posted 17June, 2022 I am moving to Brisbane in a few months and bringing my beloved 997 (and family). To help make the compliance checks as smooth as possible I plan to expose the top tethered mounts in readiness, which involves cutting the carpet. Related posts suggest that there is a perforated outline to cut out but I can't find this for the life of me. I would be grateful if someone who has done this before (or has them cut out) could give me the dimensions from the rear quarter interior trim to the centre line of the mount, and maybe confirm the width of the standard cut out. I am trying to avoid having the remove the quarter panels to rear the chunk of carpet behind the Bose. See distances marked in red on the attached. I have also attached a photo of my 997 as means of an introduction. Thanks in advance. Tom

Haha thank you! Did you find the perforated line or just go for it!
sleazius Posted 17June, 2022 Report Share Posted 17June, 2022 I managed to find the line from memory. It was a long time ago though so my memory is hazy. It'll come back to me when I take a look at it. I think I pressed down to find it.
sleazius Posted 25June, 2022 Report Share Posted 25June, 2022 So I forgot my login details and then got busy this week ... anyway Large man getting in the back of a 997 doesn't equal greatest results but here we go: Grr - can't upload the rest here - moving them offsite. So based on the photos its about 170mm from the side wall following the fold.
997even.1 Posted 27June, 2022 Author Report Share Posted 27June, 2022 That is perfect, thanks very much! It is such a shame we have to butcher the carpet to do this! One more question… What is the snot dripping out of your vent? I have exactly the same thing and never figured it out?
sleazius Posted 27June, 2022 Report Share Posted 27June, 2022 No idea - never noticed it till I took these photos for you
Stu Posted 30July, 2022 Report Share Posted 30July, 2022 I did it on my 997 too - good news when you push the carpet back and vacuum you can’t even tell!
997even.1 Posted 29November, 2022 Author Report Share Posted 29November, 2022 Thanks for your help guys, all done and ready to ship! Flying out next week, just waiting for a space on a boat for the 997 to follow. Cheers
