MaxzmusSC Posted 24August, 2013 Report Share Posted 24August, 2013 Hey Guys, I had a go at replacing the front inserts tonight and realised I needed a tool to take off the strut insert cap for the boge strut inserts. The tool would look like the alternator fan tool where it's a hollow centre with two pins on either side. Cap being that large dark grey threaded cap below (second item from right to left). Anyone in the lower north shore have one I can borrow for a few hours? Cheers, William.

Russ Posted 24August, 2013 Report Share Posted 24August, 2013 there's a few threads on Rennlist and PP about this, and the general consensus is the tool is near impossible to find (sometimes it's included) but that most people use a "pipe wrench" (which look like multigrips to me in Australian speak) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/416918-boge-struts-bilstein-strut-inserts-insert-nut-removal.html

SteamWolf Posted 25August, 2013 Report Share Posted 25August, 2013 If you do want something better you can get a "pin wrench" / "pin spanner" from ebay. Theres an adjustable one for angle grinders that will work.
tazzieman Posted 25August, 2013 Report Share Posted 25August, 2013 Cheap , always works and you will find many other uses , including plumbing Pad the jaws if scratching the gland nuts causes you to wince.
