Dusty Posted 27November, 2014 Report Share Posted 27November, 2014 Looking to drop my engine over the coming holidays to sort out its broken head studs and a few oil leaks. Hoping to buy or even rent some of the more specific tools that I'll only use once ie: Engine stand (dont mind what variety) Camshaft holder tool (p202) 46mm crows foot Z-block for dial indicator Dial indicator Flywheel lock Will buy otherwise offer to rent (payment in cash, beer or single malt scotch!?) depending on preference. Planning to start when santa comes and be done by late Jan/early Feb. Will personally travel anywhere across se qld to collect (and return if renting)
Coastr Posted 27November, 2014 Report Share Posted 27November, 2014 Oh...did you know it had broken studs when you bought it? I don't have any of those tools. I may be able to supply a spare pair of hands if you need them, depending on timing.
Stew F Posted 28November, 2014 Report Share Posted 28November, 2014 Dusty, if you are in Adelaide you are welcome to borrow my engine stand. Edit. Just noticed you are in Queensland.
Coastr Posted 28November, 2014 Report Share Posted 28November, 2014 There is an engine stand on the PCCQ website for $60 http://www.porsche-qld.org.au/PorscheClubs/pc_queensland/pc_main.nsf/web/2A229C4C26033E29C1257CCE0002A57E#pagetop I think the same seller also has a dolly modified for a 911 engine. Dusty Posted 28November, 2014 Author Report Share Posted 28November, 2014 Unfortunately for me Stew, I'm up in qld but thanks for the offer. Coastr, definitely keen for an extra pair of hands and any spare wisdom you're able to provide. This will be the first time I take the pants off a 911 motor so any first hand direction is definitely welcome! The car was bought through auction and although the broken head studs weren't disclosed, I knew they would be evident given the cheap price I paid. There's receipts showing the valves etc were done more recently so I wont be dabbling unnecessarily.
