spiller Posted 23October, 2015 Report Share Posted 23October, 2015 I purchased this brand new from Carnewal to use in my car...turns out I already had one fitted. Stupid! It is a porsche motorsports item from the 996 Cup but also fits in the 997 GT3 (and I believe manual turbo models). The standard shifter is cheap and nasty and filled with lots of plastic parts, where the cup item has steel bushes for better durability and most importantly, a much more positive shift feel.http://rennlist.com/forums/attachments/996-gt2-gt3-forum/381627d1251422338-cup-shift-cable-installed-996cupshifter.jpg^^^ click link for an image (note this is not a pic of my actual shifter but it looks exactly like this, in brand new condition and has never been fitted to a vehicle). This cost me $790 but I am prepared to take a hit for my stupidity for not checking before buying and sell for $650.Located in Adelaide and buyer pays postage.CheersSimon
Mike737 Posted 23October, 2015 Report Share Posted 23October, 2015 Is it the shifter cables or the shifter itself? Shifter still looks like it's all nylon bushes? Is that the right picture?
spiller Posted 23October, 2015 Author Report Share Posted 23October, 2015 Hi Mike, it is the actual shifter mechanism itself, not the cables. The cables are a separate part. AFAIK that picture is correct - the part I am selling is in fact the cup shifter - metal bushings. The only plastic is part of the lever arm and the actual housing itself AFAIK. This is how Porsche motorsport makes them. There was a pic online somewhere with a side by side of the standard shifter and the cup part but I cant seem to find it right now.here's a link to an album with some better picshttp://www.flickr.com/photos/turgeon...7636772019793/
