Timm Posted 1March, 2016 Report Share Posted 1March, 2016 Hi guys, my head gasket has decided to let go, and I am faced with a rebuild, or at least taking the head off and replacing the gasket.I plan on doing it myself at home, but I'd like to take the head, and possibly the block to a good machinist to have them check over everything and deck the head and maybe block.I also want to have them clean and refresh the head with new valve guides etc.So my question is, who should I take it too that I can trust?Brisbane would be ideal, but I would be willing to send it interstate if need be. If I go for a full rebuild I think Ill be getting ARP rod bolts, so I think I would need to have the shop machine my rod big ends round again with the new bolts torqued up.Also, on the topic of rebuilds, I'd like to hear from anyone on here who has done it...where did you buy the kit and how much did it cost? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.Cheers,Timm
SteveF Posted 1March, 2016 Report Share Posted 1March, 2016 Maybe you could put a v8 in it. I hear that has been done before!
Timm Posted 2March, 2016 Author Report Share Posted 2March, 2016 Haha, well after going for a ride in Chris's v8, it is mighty tempting. But I don't have the time or money for an engine swap...plus I'd like to see how far I can take the turbo engine.
