Improving 930 brakes

I have changed my brake setup with two items that have transformed its performance.

From stock pads to Hawk race pads. Not a full race pad.

Changed the fluid to Motul 600.

No other changes and the ancient 930 brakes are great.

The fade factor is no longer an issue.

The only downside is the pads are a bit squealy when cool.

Big thanks to Howard at Race Brakes for the combo. :)

Cant see why this combo cant work on any of the older cars. :)

well done Vas

I done full upgrade including braided stainless lines on mine...magic...

Idiot who done the work (who shall remain nameless) told me the master cylinder was fine...yeah right...

I have just recieved my 23mm bore master cylinder from the states and will be running the 600 fluid...

Have you noticed much change in pedal feel as the fluid heats up?

Yes it was constant, Pete.

Thats what you want.

I like the idea of doing the braided lines, another upgrade.

Let us know how it goes.

Good luck with it. :)

What pads are you going with?

apparently the are a PBR...

if i can trust the person who told me the MC was fine...

i asked for a hard street pad capable of light track work...

braided lines are a definate upgrade for sure, i have been talking to a couple of guys in WA and it may be an option to do an upgrade to a Boxster rotor and caliper while keeping my standard wheels...

don't know how much more beneficial this would be...

i have read alot on Pelican that the boxster caliper and rotor upgrade is a waste of time. benefits to be made with quality pad, fluid, lines and stock rotors

i have found the boxster brakes do upset the brake bias, particularly if they are used aggressively. About the only way around this is an adjustable proportioning valve how ever if the driver is very aggressive or has little or no feel then not much will help any way!

Honestly the best you can do is a set of good pads, EBC Yellows,Porterfields or similar, braided stainless hoses and get those from the US with DOT approval. Rebuild your calipers, slot your discs and use a good brake fluid. Depending what you are doing i use ATE super blue for heavy duty road, hillclimbs and occasional track days. for more serious use it must be Castrol SRF. it is by far the best stuff out there but it is also by far the most expensive

Hi, Mike.

Hope you are well,

Thanks for the advice.

I have also installed the SS lines and it does help with a constant feel.

I hear the castrol is not what it was, changed the make up.

A few blokes have not been to happy with the new stuff.

The Motul 600 is awesome.

hi vas930

We are all well thank you.

Its interesting what you say about the SRF. That sort of thing has happento often over the yearswith too many great products.

The other one i have used in the past is the AP550 or 650

I have heard all good things about the Motul 600.

Regards and Merry Christmas

Mike
