There are a couple of good stories in the latest UNIQUE CARS, for those interested.

The cover has Alan Hamilton's racing 911T/R on the cover. The story about his success with the car.

The other story is about what was supposed to be the PORSCHE 901 (until POOGOT spat the dummy on it) Then it was renamed the 911 and was the first one into Australia. Both stories are a nice read, and worth the purchase of the magazine.

Also in the Hamilton article is a story about the first 550 Spyder Racing car, complete with photo.

That 550 featured, is the same car that is my avatar photo.

It was 1956 or thereabouts and the service station was the BP in Mt Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds.

I recall I was riding my bike (that would be a push bike) past the servo with my mate and we were called in by a photographer to join some other kids polishing the Spyder. The photo appeared the next day on the front page of the AGE. I am the little tacker looking after the front right guard....

And so my love for Porsches started......
