New Au member based in UK saying gday

Hi all,

Not sure what the protocol is but thought I'd drop a line and say gday. Originally from Sydney now bases near Manchester. I've had my 997.2 C2S for approx 3 years and it's a real peach. It's bog standard other than running MPSS tyres.

Currently use the 911UK.com forum for questions etc which has been a real help.

Look forward to getting involved here and see what's doing back at home.

Cheers

Hey there and welcome FZP. Similar to you I have recently returned from a stint in the UK and used 911uk for all my Porsche stuff. I brought my 997.2 4S home from the UK with me and she now lives down under.

Enjoy the banter on PFA and post some pics of your car from time to time.

I recognise the name.  I'm pretty sure you sent me old mates details on sending my car back to Australia when it's time from UK Forum.

I hope you're enjoying the sun with yours.

Cheers

Hi Mike

i actually live in Wilmslow as well! It's a great pocket for car spotting. Some amazing motors to be seen. If and when I come back I'll definitely bring back a couple of cars, one for me and one for the dragon.....apparently

What a small world.

I am also from that neck of the woods, formally Alderly Edge and Over Peover before coming to Australia.

we returned for a holiday in Sept 2015 & based ourselves in Wilmslow ( a short term renal flat near the cop shop). The Wilmslow car show was  on which was an interesting sight and a show of wealth. Also got a small Motorsport fix at Oulton park with a round of the Caterhan championship & a day at Three Sisters, Wigan, watching the Karting.

FZP have you had a run from Macclesfied to Buxton on the Cat & Fiddle road? I believe it's a bit over Policed these days but I used to have a lot of fun in my Speed Yellow (yep Porsche colour) Caterham with the Biker boys then stop at the pub (The Cat & Fiddle) for a chat & laugh. Happy days.

Mike I wonder if we know each other? Spent a lot of time drinking & carrying on in Wilmslow. I'm 54 & most people new me as Wol.

Hi Arnage,

The Wilmslow motorshow was on again last year and it was a real belter.

On a good summers day, Alderley Edge can rival it for supercar porn. You can see just about any car around here. I was at Ferrari Wilmslow and they had 3 x LaFerrari and 3 x LaFerrari Aperta. The only supercar of note I'm yet to see is a Mclaren F1. During the summer months, the car spotting paparazzi camp out in Alderley Edge and then post their finds on YouTube. If you search Alderley Edge Supercars, you can spend hrs looking at the amazing cars. I'm yet to see my car in any of the videos...too low rent it seems.

I have done the Buxton run but unfortunately they have put average speed cameras with a 50mph speed limit on due to one too many weekend motorcycle warrior axing themselves. But as you know there are loads of amazing driving roads just over in Wales so all isn't lost when I need to stretch her legs.

Arnage, you're 9 years older than me sorry, name doesn't ring a bell. My parents are in Alderley, on the way out to Mobberley and my sister still lives in Wilmslow, near Lacey Green. In laws are in Hale and Altrincham so I'm the only one to leave town so to speak ! Haven't been back for a couple of years now, but my wife gets back every so often with work to see the niece and nephew.

Wilmslow's always been good for car spotting, even when I was a kid. We had Strattons in the middle of town (was an Aston dealer last time I was at home). My first ride in a 911 was a mates Dad's brand new 78 Turbo, in black, belting up through the rough ass road through Wilmslow Park where they lived. My Dad thought he was mental, we kids just bounced around in the back thinking it was ace . The very same mates Dad bought his older brother a brand new 911 Clubsport for his 21st birthday, that was quite the surprise....

There used to be a McLaren F1 out near Mobberley, but I think he moved. It's the orange F1LM car that someone turned into a road car. Back when they were new there were a couple that we used to see regularly, one grey one black. I know one of the local footballists has a Bugatti Veyron that can normally be found parked in the bus stop in Alderley Edge of a weekend, usually with a parking ticket on it. It's a dreadful thing to say, but you actually get bored of the sheer number of super cars kicking around, thanks to the McLaren dealer in Knutsford they're 10 a penny now :lol:

Not a lot has changed since you were last back other than they have just finished a reno on the AM dealership......which looks exactly the same as it did before.

I tried to explain to my mates back home how many super/hypercars are based around here, and it's not until they're here that they get what I'm talking about. I see more Porsche cars in any 10 minute period thank a week in Germany.

I had dinner in Knutsford on Friday night so had to have a cheeky look at what was in the window

675LT Spider , 722 Mclaren, 650S x 2 and 570s. Rather full
