Mark 911 Posted 27August, 2017 Report Share Posted 27August, 2017 Just wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction I have a 996C4S it's my first 911 and my rear tires are chewed out in the inside shoulder of the tire . With every other car I have owned in the past I've just gone to my local Bob Jane dealership to get tires and a wheel alignment done but being a 911 do I need to go to someone more specialised like a Porsche dealership or a Porsche independent? The car was always serviced at Porsche Melbourne do they do ties and wheel alignments there ?
DT Posted 28August, 2017 Report Share Posted 28August, 2017 Rocky at Donnellans in Collingwood is the man to sort you out. Very reasonably priced too.
Carrera28 Posted 28August, 2017 Report Share Posted 28August, 2017 Just a general comment, not specific to Melbourne. If your car is lowered you may have difficulty getting onto the wheel alignment 'rigs' that you need to drive onto. For my lowered 996 I need to get it aligned at a place that does from a pit in the ground ie you drive over the top and it comes up rather than one of the ones that you drive onto. dan_189 Posted 29August, 2017 Report Share Posted 29August, 2017 Had my 996 C2 with M030 (10mm lowered) done at PCM.Their customer service is excellent, they also did a good job on the alignment. They are pricey though coming in at the most expensive of the quotes I got.I started a thread about this here:
Mark 911 Posted 30August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 30August, 2017 I ended up taking it to Porsche Centre Melbourne haven't picked it up yet . I rang around and they were only $50 More expensive than other places for two tires and a wheel alignment . And they even shouted me a taxi home which came up to $80. I must admit they have a beautiful workshop.

Also a service from them gives you free roadside assistance for a year and you get some promotional give away too. Their workshop is amazing... Mark 911 Posted 31August, 2017 Author Report Share Posted 31August, 2017 Got my car back yesterday and I couldn't be happier with the service at porsche Centre Melbourne. The car is driving perfectly straight and the best part is they didn't scratch my rims because they use a special wheel alignment tool that locks into the centre cap of the wheel instead of the outside rim. And I even paid for a taxi to pick me up as well can't complain with that. ? 295 30 18 Michilin pilot sport ps2
